Microsoft reportedly cuts dozens more jobs from mobile division

According to a new report, Microsoft is cutting dozens of more jobs from its mobile division. The report comes from Finnish publication Helsigin Sanomat, which says that the cuts are mostly targeted at the mobile division's marketing unit in Finland, created after the tech giant acquired Nokia.

Though no exact number was given, the report comes following a large number of cuts from Microsoft's mobile division over the past year. In July of 2015, Microsoft confirmed it was planning to cut 7,800 jobs across the company, with 2,300 of those coming from its mobile unit. Speaking with ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley, Microsoft confirmed that the latest cuts in Finland are not part of the original 7,800.

Microsoft's most recent earnings report showed worrying figures for its mobile unit, with the company reporting that it sold only 4.5 million Lumia phones during the holiday quarter. That downturn is expected to continue in the coming quarters.
