While Windows Phone has had a Wallet feature in the past, a full mobile payment system similar to Apple Pay, Android Pay or Samsung Pay has not yet been officially revealed for Windows 10 or Windows 10 Mobile. That may change in the near future, according to comments made this week by Microsoft vice-president Joe Belfiore.
In a chat with Re/code, Belfiore confirmed that the company has "a bunch of work we are doing" in that area:
"Microsoft has been laying the groundwork, hiring Amazon payments product leader Iain Kennedy and applying for money transfer licenses in various states. "Windows is going to have a wallet concept," he said. "We're going to think about the range of payment scenarios."
Microsoft is looking at real-world payments for its system, along with using Windows Hello for better security. However, Belfiore would only say that an official announcement for the Windows 10 mobile payment system will be made "soon".
