Microsoft Store app for Windows Phone adds ratings and reviews in latest update

microsoft store app

The Microsoft Store application for Windows Phone was just updated to version 2.3. The change log describes improved customer experience in the catalog, but we're having a hard time agreeing. It’s still a little slow and confusing to use. For example, there’s no category for phones. You also need to use search to find Nokia Lumia devices.

The new version 2.3 now also displays ratings and reviews for products, as well as letting you add shortcuts to your favorite categories.

What we like about the Microsoft Store app is that you can see what's going on at your local store. If you want to attend an event at your local store, you can use the app to view a schedule of what's happening there in the next few weeks. It looks like my local store is giving demonstrations of the Xbox One almost every day.

You can also use the app to shop online for products available through the Microsoft Store. While we’re glad Microsoft keeps improving their Store app, we think it needs a lot more work.

Have you tried using the Microsoft Store app? Download it now from the Windows Phone Store and let us know what you think. Thanks, Mark, for the tip

Microsoft Store app for Windows Phone adds ratings and reviews in latest update

Google have started latest Nexus sales via Play store in India. It's high time for MS to take hint and increase their global footprint, at least via online portals, rather than waiting for Nokia leftovers after deal completion. They are already lagging behind.

I'm in rant mode because my lappy is dead and I want a Surface for a portable solution :(
Else 2520 gets my money.

If you are going to get a surface 2, better take the Lumia 2520. Lumia has lots of advantages over the surface 2 like here maps, battery, weight, camera, screen, etc... I am in the same situation :D

Read Paul Thurrott's comparison of the two.  He lays out the major areas and it does seem to give the Lumia an advantage.  However, there are three things that have me leaning to the Surface Pro 2.  First, it's the full 8.1, which the Lumia is only RT.  If a tablet is going to replace my laptop it MUST be capable of running the few legacy programs I still must depend on. Second, yes, the kickstand.  Third, the blade concept.  Right now, obviously, the touch cover or type cover are the predominant manifestation.  But the Mix cover they showed plus all the concept blades that are starting to be developed means that the expandability potential is HUGE...REALLY HUGE.  The Lumia simply doesn't have that, period.

if it between lumia2520 and surface 2, better you take Lumia. but if it between Lumia 2520 and surface PRO 2, then i think u might want to get the surface pro 2

Yes, Surface 2 (RT). It works better in a lap than the 2520, and it comes with 200GB of SkyDrive for two years, and it comes with Skype-to-phone for one year, and it has a magnesium housing (instead of polycarbonate), and it works with all my existing Surface accessories (keyboard covers most notably). But the kickstand seals the deal for me.

Windows phone is in second place behind Android in India and this year it's marketshare grew 3% so that tells you they are doing good over there. The low and mid ranged Windows phones are becoming quite popular in many of the eveloping nations so I think they are doing good...not great, but good enough that they are overtaking apple in a lot of countries like Brazil and India.

In Lithuania it is going head to head with android :D... Hey if you like my photos, follow me on instagram @kaaspparas . Most of the pictures taken on Lumia 920. ;)

My mother's family is from Poland and Lithuania. Always been proud of that- need to visit one day. Good taste in phones over there :-)

Microsoft are still too slow, they need to be opening physical stores outside north America. I have three Apple stores within 15 minutes of my home. But no Microsoft stores or even Microsoft instore outlets. My local PC store has a dedicated Apple section but no windows phones or surfaces to be seen.

Microsoft is building brand awareness and the progress may seem slow but seriously, until they unify their stores, offer the true three screens vision, and provide the absolute best app versions of their own unique app collection, they have no reason to change the "slow and steady wins the race" philosophy they are currently using. Face it people , we are still beta testing windows phone but I for one am glad I jumped aboard! Its been a fun, wild ride and I'm still enjoying every minute! There is just no better OS than windows, its unique, personal and just suits me well. - proud Lumia 1020 owner

@infamousdaveman It's so refreshing to read your comment.... I'm tired of the naysayers! "It's never good enough!" Give me a break, and allow me to enjoy every bit of uplifting news about my chosen platform. Windows Phone 8 has been an sublime experience thus far.
-Proud owner of Nokia Lumia 928

The only situations I've been critical of has been the phone storage bug, Xbox certification and lack of strategy for games overall. Microsoft have largely taken care of the app situation for me- im not hurting for any apps except games. Im hoping that with the indie friendly stance that they have with Xbox One in 2014 and self-publishing, the change will also migrate to WP8. Love my 822

Same here, I have 2 apple stores in my town alone and I can get to them within a 10 min walk. But my nearest Microsoft store is a few thousand miles away. Even my local tech store has about half the shop dedicated to apple.

Hey how about letting people outside uk and usa control xbox with voice. I mean come on im from England so it should understand me
just a lack of thought at every level

Not available - Nokia Lumia 925 in UK. Presume that like Extras & Info I could get this if I change settings to US.

Is the Store App regionalised?

True, but we do have access to the online store here in the UK and the app allows for purchases through it ;-)

I'm finally going to buy my Nokia Lumia 925 today, after months of review-readings and research. Wish me luck :) Then..I'm gonna dump my dead Symbian S60V5 Nokia C6-00. And by dumping..I mean give it to my dad :P

Damn..I really hope I made the right choice. It was L925 or the HTC One.

Have you considered L1020 as an option? It is exclusive to Att, so I'm not sure about how that will impact your final decision.

No contracts in my country. Only SIM-Free and unbranded (which is good because I hate that Verizon logo you guys have btw) purchases. So..the L1020 is way out of my budget range. But I played with the L1020 for a while and I don't really think I'll regret my decision.

P.S. Free wireless backcover + plate exclusively with the L925..:D Not with the L1020.

I've looked at both myself. I would definitely choose the L925 especially with all of the great apps that have been coming to WP8. The L925 has an edge with the camera and is more future proof- you never know when or if HTC will update the One to kitkat.

You should have seen me there..:P It was in an expo..with neighbouring booths for HTC One and L925. I was running back and forth playing with both devices..trying to make a last minute choice. Then..I went with the L925 as planned. Let's hope it was worth the coin.

I waited enough. Besides..if a new phone is announced..it'll probably be released in US market in February 2014. Hence..it'll arrive in my country a minimum of 3 months later. That's May-June 2014. I don't think I can wait that long..like a half-year there man. As I said I waited long enough to change my phone.
Plus..the L925 just arrived in my country..well..beginning of November 2013 to be more precise..so..here it's still the flagship smartphone (L1020 is a camera-phone..doesn't count :P)
But hey..thanks for giving me a last minute doubts when making my purchase there..:D
Seriously..I appreciate your response.

@El-Macho... Seems to me like you have done your research, and also weighed your options in a logical manner. I guess in your case, "If the shoes fit then wear it." Not that you needed it, but I support your decision :-)

This app is not available for my windows phone!? A windows phone store app not available for a windows phone phone...? Can anyone help?

edit: never mind, just read the comments!!!

Why the heck can't I download this app. I live in the uk but my son lives in Detroit. I often go to the US for thanksgiving and love black Friday. I can and do use laptops purchased in the states so why can't I see what deals there are and ask my son to go buy them and bring them over. I'd particularly like a 2050. Any ideas how to change this annoying situation

Off topic for sure. Not sure if you guys posted or noticed. The Lumia 1020 on Rogers is now only $99 on a two year, was $199. Began Nov 21st as per documents.

I wonder if whey will let me rate the MS Store itself? After the botch job they did with the L1520 pre orders I would like a shot at rating their Customer Service.

I hope MS solves the email issue first. Inability to attach multiple docs and save pdf files in phone is Achilles heel of the Windows phone ecosystem.

Im affraid something bad will happen with nokia. I'm affraid we will have to pay for HERE services and nokia mixradio.
