Microsoft's Office Hub app rears its head for Windows Insiders

Microsoft is giving Windows 10 Insiders an early peek at the upcoming Office Hub app that is expected to be coming along in the Creators Update. Quietly released as an update to the Get Office app on Windows 10 (which is still labeled "Get Office" after the update), the experience looks like it may offer a one-stop shop of sorts for installing Office apps, accessing your files and more.

Outside of installing Office apps and viewing your recent documents, the app also offers quick access to checking out details of your account and managing your installs. There's also a dedicated section for Help and Training, where you can view quick start guides and get a rundown of what's new.

This update is part of what is expected to be tighter Office integration in the Creators update. Some internal concepts that we detailed in August include possible integration with Cortana, which would offer up similar access to recent documents and more via a dedicated Office button. Other integrations could bring better search, allowing users to search for things like "emails from this week," and having Cortana pull in emails that meet that criteria from Outlook and more.

Things are still early, and it's likely that we'll see even more changes to the Office Hub app as the months wear on. Otherwise, it's likely we'll see the app included in the full Creators Update in 2017.

Thanks, Tony, for the tip!
