As promised a few days ago, Microsoft has now transitioned their official Windows Phone Facebook and Twitter accounts so they now appear under the Microsoft Lumia and Lumia brand names, respectively. The Facebook pages were changed on Thursday but the Twitter account switched over earlier this morning.
In addition to those changes, the Nokia US Facebook and Twitter feeds have also switch names to Microsoft Lumia US and Lumia US, respectively. That goes for the other localized Nokia social network sites. The main Nokia Facebook and Twitter accounts are also posting hints today that the Finland company will be reclaiming those pages very soon.
All of this activity is part of Microsoft's plan to leave the Nokia brand behind for its Lumia smartphones. It also seems that Microsoft is downplaying the Windows Phone branding in general, perhaps in preparation for just using the "Windows" name for all of the company's products that use some version of the operating system.
Do you believe Microsoft should ditch the Windows Phone brand or leave it as it is?
