If you're out to buy a new Surface Book from the Microsoft Store, your configuration options just grew by one. A new high-end configuration has been spotted at the Microsoft Store (via Neowin), with a hefty $2,999 price tag to match.
For the money, this new configuration sports an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The one big differentiator between this model and the others available around its price range is that this model doesn't include a discrete GPU (dGPU). It's a curious move, given that anyone purchasing in this price range would most likely be okay with shelling out an extra $200 to move up to the next-highest model with a dGPU. That said, more choice is never a bad thing.
If you have your eye on this model, it looks like you'll have to wait just a bit longer to get one, however. It's currently listed as "Out of Stock" on the U.S. Microsoft Store, but it's likely it will become available soon. If other models are more your style, Microsoft is currently offering a solid price cut of $200 on some models as well.
Lastly, on a somewhat related note, Microsoft has also seemingly dropped the option to purchase an entry-level Surface Pro 4 with a pen on its store. The Core m3 model is now only available without a pen. That said, in recent months we've seen the Microsoft Store delist some Windows Phones only to see them reappear a week or two later, and that could be the case here as well. For the time being, however, you'll likely want to check out other retailers if you want the Core m3 model with an included pen.
