With Windows 10 now officially available in many new PCs, Microsoft has quietly set a target date for the end of PC sales that have three older versions of Windows pre-installed. The company's Windows Lifecycle Fact Sheet page was recently updated, revealing that OEMs won't be allowed to sell new PCs with Windows 7 Pro installed after October 31, 2016.
That's also the same date for the end of new PC sales that have Windows 8.1 pre-installed. Meanwhile, June 30, 2016 is the final date for PC sales with Windows 8 pre-installed. Microsoft likely hopes that both consumers and businesses will want to move on and buy new PCs with Windows 10 pre-installed after those dates.
