Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that it planned to shut down development of its Fable Legends multiplayer RPG for Windows 10 and Xbox One. Now a new report claims that the game could continue its development after all with the remaining team members at Lionhead Studios.

According to MCV

Three sources at the Xbox studio - which Microsoft announced it would close last month - have told MCV that discussions are on-going about saving the free-to-play RPG. There are currently no offers for either the game or the studio, but staff are being surveyed as to whether they would like to continue working on Legends, or just accept the redundancy package that has been put before them and leave at the end of April.

The report adds that one of those sources claims Microsoft might allow the team members to work on Fable Legends as an independent studio. The game was first announced in 2013 for the Xbox One and its Windows 10 version was revealed in early 2015. The developer had been in closed beta testing for Fable Legends before the cancellation announcement was made. That closed beta is scheduled to shut down on April 13.
