Microsoft's development team for Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries, is preparing for the release of The Cartographer's Gift, the second free update for the Xbox One shooter. It will include the game's version of the Forge editor, which will allow gamers to create their own map layouts.

In addition, the free update will add in new armor and weapons for Halo 5, along with a new Warzone map (Battle of Noctus), a new Arena map (Overgrowth) and two new Big Team Battle maps (Antifreeze and Burial Mounds). Microsoft and 343 are also preparing for the start of the Halo World Championship 2016 on Sunday, Dec. 6, where esports gamers will compete for a still-growing prize pool of $2 million.

"Starting today, in celebration of the Halo World Championship, a special Halo Championship Series (HCS) Premium REQ Pack – including HCS themed weapon skins, armor, and emblem – will be available for purchase. Fans will need to act fast though as this will only be available through Sunday at 12pm PST."

More free content updates for Halo 5 will be released in 2016, according to Microsoft.
