This morning, Nokia has pushed out an update to their HERE Maps app for Windows Phone. The previous version was 3.5.481.8 while today’s update brings that number up to 3.5.486.8.
That minor of a number change hints that this is more about optimizations and bug fixes than new features.
Of course you’ll notice in the changelog that it says “Organize your favorites into groups, sync them across your phone and here.com and have these collections at your fingertips.” but truth be told, that was from the last update and Collections + syncing is not new today.
Collections is a really useful feature, actually. Case in point: if you’re at your PC (or Lumia 2520) and are meeting up with someone, you can do a search for the place on the HERE Maps website (here.com), login with your Nokia account, and then save that place to your Collections. Now, when you turn on your phone, you’ll will notice under Collections that the location has been saved (you can even organize them by categories). That’s actually a really useful feature and saves you some time and effort.
So although today’s update doesn’t bring anything new, you can still pick it up to make sure you’re on the latest version. Grab HERE Maps version 3.5.486.8 here in the Store.
Thanks, Ankmeyester and Giordano P., for the tips!
