UK mobile operator O2 has shared some information on the Windows Phone 8.1 update, providing customers some idea as to when they can expect to receive the major upgrade. They first start the announcement by noting just how much interaction they've experience from Windows Phone owners - we know you're a vocal bunch when you all want something.
Simply put, if you're on O2 and are eagerly awaiting Windows Phone 8.1, you should be in line to download the update before the month is out. What's more is you'll get visual voicemail too.
O2 is currently testing the update on a variety of mobile devices (as we know carriers do these days) and expect to have this stage of the process completed within the next few weeks. The Lumia Cyan update will be bundled with Windows Phone 8.1, so there'll be no need to wait for both updates.
You may have noticed we mentioned visual voicemail in the title, this is because the mobile operator has worked with Nokia and Microsoft to implement this highly demanded feature. This essentially negates the need to call voicemail as all messages are downloaded.
Windows Phone 8.1 will be heading to the Lumia 520, 620, 625, 720, 820, 920, 925, 1020, 1520 on O2. All devices will have visual voicemail enabled from the get-go, but new hardware like the Lumia 630, Lumia 635 and Lumia 930 won't have visual voicemail just yet.
Kudos to O2 for being so open about the process and not leaving Windows Phone owners in the dark.
