Microsoft will add a new Fast update ring to its Office Insider program. It will allow its members to get new Office builds faster on Windows desktops, Mac and Windows Mobile.
Microsoft first launched Office Insider in November 2015 and currently has over 1 million members. Similar to its Windows Insider program, it allows those members to try out new updates for Office apps before they were released to everyone else. In a blog post that went over all of the Office updates for the month of August, Microsoft stated:
Coming in the next few days, we're adding a new level called Office Insider Fast for Windows desktops, Mac and Windows Mobile (Android and iOS coming soon). The Fast level provides even earlier builds of Office, more frequently. In fact, these builds are what Microsoft employees have access to internally. Office Insider Fast is best for Insiders who want to use the earliest preview builds to identify issues, provide feedback to help make Office great, and who don't mind a bit of risk using unsupported builds.
Office Insider is for people who currently subscribe to Office 365 Personal or Home. As Microsoft stated, Fast ring members will likely encounter more bugs and issues with their builds compared to normal members of the program
