Overkill 3 goes universal, now available on Windows 8.1

Overkill 3, a relatively new game from Game Troopers that made its debut on Windows Phone late last month, is now available for Windows 8.1. Perhaps best of all, the game is now a universal app, allowing you to carry your progress over from Windows Phone or vice versa.

If you're unfamiliar with Overkill 3's third-person shooter action, here's a quick rundown on what you can expect from the game's description:

"Welcome to the future. It's grim and dark. The ever oppressing Faction wants everyone to follow and obey. They will stop at nothing. People are scared. Demoralized. The few who fight back are painfully outnumbered. They need hope. Someone to show them the way. Will you stand up for humanity and fight for its future? Step into the action of the audio-visual spectacle that is Overkill 3. Lead the Resistance into victory over the evil Faction forces and their brutal killing machines."

The game features console-level graphics, a high level of customization for your guns, and a host of different environments for players to tackle. Additionally, Game Troopers notes that the Windows 8.1 version of the game features a new mouse control that lets players hide and aim using the mouse wheel.

If you'd like to try the game out for yourself on either platform, you can snag it for free for Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 from the store links below. Happy shooting!
