Blue Skies Weather for Windows Phone

For those who like using Blue Skies – or for those who have never tried it – you will want to make sure you grab today's update. The app refresh adds numerous new features and tweaks to the well-designed weather app.

Version 1.5.2 came out early this morning on the Store, and the full changelog for Windows Phone 8.1 users is significant.

Blue Skies

  • New front medium and wide tile options
  • New back wide tile option that includes precipitation probability
  • Ability to turn off tile flip
  • Added wind speed direction info
  • Live tiles will no longer update every time you open the app to reduce problems with live tile updates (setting available to change this)
  • Restructured background task for better efficiency, reliability, and lower memory usage
  • Removed "Enabled Tile Size" setting
  • Updated moon and precipitation graphics
  • Various other little bug fixes and tweaks for efficiency

Additionally, we are told by the developer that there is now a new "Get It All Bundle" add-on which packages all the additional features of Blue Skies for $1.99 (rather the total cost of $3 if you buy the add-ons individually). That dollar saving brings the overall price down of Blue Skies to a more palatable $2, making Blue Skies a worthy download.

Blue Skies is always near the top of our recommended weather apps for Windows Phone, and this latest release confirms that feeling, so go and give it a try.
