Walgreens Windows Phone 8

It’s a healthy sign for the ecosystem when big name apps get frequent updates. Walgreens was an early adopter of the Windows Phone platform by first putting an app out in early 2011. Since then, there’s been an update to make the app optimized for Windows Phone 8. Now today we get another update from Walgreens and it’s brings a pretty cool feature.

Walgreens for Windows Phone has been updated to version 2.1. What’s new? The ability to print photos from Instagram or SkyDrive at your local Walgreens. They’ve had the ability to use photos from your phone and Facebook, but SkyDrive/Instagram are new sources.

All you do is connect your Instagram and SkyDrive accounts to Walgreens within the app. From there you’ll have access to photo albums where you can select multiple photos to send to the local print lab. You can customize size and quantity. From there you’ll get a price and select which local store you want to send the prints to. You’ll get an estimated pick-up time, but most will have them done in under an hour.

While physical prints may be going the way of the dodo, there’s something nice about have physical copies of your photos. Plus, your grandma is going to check out your Instagram pictures unless you physically hand her the photo.
