Pushbullet adds end-to-end encryption for SMS, notification mirroring and more

Pushbullet, the app which allows you to reply to notifications and messages on your phone from your computer, now offers end-to-end encryption for added security. With this, the information that is being transferred between your phone and computer is fully encrypted until it is received on the other end. All of Pushbullet's features will still work with the new security measures, offering you safer and more secure notification mirroring, SMS and universal copy and paste.

End-to-end encryption means your data is encrypted before it leaves your device, and isn't decrypted until it is received by another of your devices. This means we at Pushbullet only forward encrypted data. By setting up end-to-end encryption, you can be confident that your data is only readable when it's shown to you.

Getting set up with the new encryption is easy, simply pick a password and enter it on each device. To enter a password, head to the Settings screen then go to the End to end encryption section. The password isn't stored, and is used to derive a key that's used to encrypt your data. Support is already available in both the Android, Chrome, and Windows desktop app, and will be available in the next iOS and Mac update.
