The official IMSA app for Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 recently joined us, and the good news is that it's largely a great app. The experience within is everything a fan of sports car racing could want, save for one small bug. I call it a bug because I have to hope that's what it is. While the most recent race was happening this past weekend, every 60 seconds or so the app would push out a notifcation.
Worse still, it would just say "new notification," not actually providing any information with it. Whether you're in the app or not, they'll keep racking up. So, while we're hoping it's just a bug that'll get fixed, the best course of action in the meantime? Just turn off notifications for that app. If you're not sure how to do that, read on and we'll show you how.
Presumably the notifications will eventually deliver some kind of interesting race news, but the frequency needs to be customizable. In any case, here's how to turn them off if you need to:
- Open up "Settings"
- Scroll down until you find "Notifications and Actions"
- Open it up and scroll down until you find the IMSA app
- Turn "show in action center" to off.
You can also just remove the banner alerts, but at this stage there's little point since you're not actually getting anything from the notifications.
Aside from this little irritation, we've been enjoying the IMSA app a lot this weekend. If you've been using it, let us know what you think of it in the comments below!
