Review: Samsung Hartmann Luxury Leather Case

While Samsung has built a reputation for quality electronics, they also offer some decent cases for your Windows Phones. The Hartmann Luxury Leather Case is a quality built, uniquely designed case for the Samsung Jack. It will also accommodate the Sprint Snap and Verizon Ozone.

What sets the Hartmann case apart from others is that lack of a case flap. It's more of a horizontal pouch than case. I have reservations about how secure the Samsung Jack would ride in the case.

Ease on past the break to see how well the Samsung Hartmann Luxury Leather Case measured up.

First Impressions

I'm partial to brown leather cases. They seem to stand out from the multitude of black cases that are available. So, the Hartmann case comes into play already with an amount of appeal.

The build quality of the case is really good. Stitching was tight and the leather-wrapped clip sturdy. The case doesn't have any padding but is lined with a suede-like material.

The case recessed along the top edge and there is a spacious cut out at the bottom to help place and remove your Windows Phone from the case.

Fit and Feel

The Hartmann was comfortable to wear, not riding too high or low on your belt. The clip held the case nicely in place.

The Samsung Jack fit nicely in the Hartmann case but it was quickly obvious that without a cover flap, the Hartmann was not a secure case.

The Jack sat low enough in the case to protect it but the case lacked the tension to hold the phone in place. Leaning over or simply jumping up and down dislodged the Jack.

Windows Phones sit lower in vertical pouches making it harder for them to bounce out. The narrower, horizontal pouches lack the depth to hold the phone in place. The Jack might ride more securely if the case was molded (or had a flap) but as is, you really have to be cautious in using the Hartmann case.

Overall Impressions

Cases need to be comfortable to wear, well made, and hold the Windows Phone in place securely. While the Samsung Hartmann does a good job with two of the latter, it has a lot of room for improvement with regards to a secure fit.

The Samsung Hartmann is a great looking case that is well constructed. If it held the Samsung Jack more securely, it would have left a better overall impression. For a more secure case for your Samsung Jack, I'd look at the Samsung's Horizontal Leather Pouch. It may not be brown leather but it will keep your phone in place a lot better.

The Samsung Hartmann Luxury Leather ($24.95)and the Horizontal Leather Pouch ($19.95) both can be found over at the WMExperts.com store.
