Although we spend significant time documenting and tracking the Lumia Cyan update, there is an easy way for you to do it yourself. There's a free app on the Store with the straightforward name of 'Cyan Update' and it does all the work for you.
Cyan Update directly detects your phone model, carrier and region, and then it pings the Lumia Cyan database, bringing down the latest on your phone. The app itself is no frills. You just launch it, confirm the information and let it run. You can then pin the Tile to your Start screen as a wide Tile, and it flips to display the latest status report on your awaiting update, including time last checked.
Phone OS and firmware updates always hit at 1 PM ET, so checking more often than a handful of times a day is a little overkill, but if you want to be safe, Cyan Update is the way to go. Cyan Update is free with no ads, and it is a good source for tracking those in-demand OS updates.
