Bethesda Game Studios is currently taking sign ups for people to participate in a closed beta test for installing and playing Fallout 4 mods on the Xbox One.
Bethesda currently is running an open beta for mods on the PC version of the game, but the closed beta for Xbox One Fallout 4 mods will begin sometime next week, after the launch of the big Far Harbor DLC expansion pack. Bethesda adds that it has seen 1 million mod downloads so far for the PC version of the game.
In related news, Bethesda is teaming up with NVIDIA for the Fallout 4 Mod Contest for the PC version. Winners will be named in four categories:
- Status (dialog tweaks, audio add-ins, general patches, UI revamps, utilities, etc.)
- Inventory (weapons, weapon adjustments, items, clothing, or others)
- Data (anything Workshop Mode or quest-related)
- Map (environmental mods such as vegetation, new structures or locations, weather-related, or similar)
The creator of the winning Fallout 4 mod in each category will receive $5,000, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPU, and a Fallout 4 gift bag with lots of cool merchandise. Entries must be turned in by July 3, and then NVIDIA will pick the top 20 finalists, which will be voted on by the general public.
