Sky Cue Club, a 3D billiards game, is today's AdDuplex HERO App

Sky Cue Club: 8 & 9 Ball Pool + Billiards + Snooker is one of the lengthier titles in the Windows 10 and Windows Phone Stores. While long in name, it is a nicely animated, 3D billiards game that delivers a nice variety of billiard games under one roof. It is also today's AdDuplex HERO App.

The HERO Apps program is a promotional campaign for Windows Phone and Windows developers on the AdDuplex Network and partners AdDuplex with myAppFree, AppDeals, PluralSight and Windows Central to deliver a host of benefits to the top apps and games each month. Our role in the HERO App campaign is to offer a little exposure to these titles by sharing them with you, our readers, and today we take a look at Sky Cue Club: 8 & 9 Ball Pool + Billiards + Snooker.

We took a look at Sky Cue Club a couple of months ago and found it to be a feature rich, entertaining gaming option for those who like to pass the time around the billiard table.

Sky Cue Club

Sky Cue Club has three gaming modes that include Practice, Tournaments and Pass/Play games. The Practice Mode has Trick Shots, Challenges, Free Shots and Speed Pot games.

  • The Trick Shots is a multi-level challenge where you tackle pre-set billiard shots, having a set number of shots to sink all your balls.
  • Challenges are similar to the Trick Shots but are aimed at the more experienced player.
  • Free Shots is an open table where you practice shots without any rules or restrictions.
  • Speed Pot is a timed practice game where you have to pot all your balls before time expires. Some balls will add time and if you scratch your cue ball, you will lose time.

Both the Trick Shot and Challenges games include hundreds of levels of billiard shots to master. The Challenges game will require an in-app purchase to unlock.

Sky Cue Club

The Tournament Mode has three billiard games to master. You have 8 Ball, 9 Ball and Snooker Tournaments to compete in. The same three billiard games are available in the Pass and Play gaming mode.

Sky Cue Club does offer up a few pre-game options that cover game customizations such as table color, center decal color and texture and if playing the computer the difficulty level. Sky Cue Club does support multi-player games but in pass/play manner.

Sky Cue Club

Gaming mechanics with Sky Cue Club are not very complicated. Game play, as you might expect, is from behind the cue ball. The gaming screen will have the balls potted (pocketed) or needed to be potted displayed at the top of the screen. To the left side, you will find three control tiles to pause the game, switch to an overhead view of the table and to move the cue ball (when allowed). Just below these tiles is a cue ball that will note your striking point, which can be adjusted by touch.

Along the right side of the screen is your cue stick that will be used to strike your cue ball. You can tap/hold/slide on the cue stick to strike the ball or just tap on the illustration to strike the cue ball. The further back you slide or tap, the more power will be applied to your shot.

The pace of play moves along without much delay and the physics of Sky Cue Club represents the game of billiards nicely. Overall, Sky Cue Club: 8 & 9 Ball Pool + Billiards +Snooker may have one of the longer gaming titles, but it is an entertaining option to have tucked away in your gaming library. I did experience minor stability issues when I first reviewed the game and in revisiting things, I didn't experience any issues.

If you have given Sky Cue Club a try, let us know what you think of things in the comments below. Also, don't forget to rate the game in either Store. It is an easy way to offer the developer a little feedback.
