Microsoft announced today that it is teaming up with Vice News to allow readers to pose their questions to reporters and contribute their views to stories from around the globe.
Speaking on the impact of the partnership, Sterling Proffer, General Manager of Vice News, said the following:
"Skype is enabling VICE News to continue to break down barriers, making it easier to gather and share truly global stories. Skype TX allows us to bring in a wide range of voices and faces into the conversation – which lets ideas, and not technology, dictate the story."
If you're unfamiliar with Vice News, it's a news outlet aimed at bringing global stories to a younger, more tech savvy audience. Most of Vice's reporting is released through its YouTube channel and website, though the outlet also has a weekly show on HBO. Through its partnership with Skype, Vice News will expand its coverage by bringing in outside views and opinions from its audience.
