Skype teams up with Sify to make it easier for Indian customers to add funds

Skype is partnering with Sify to allow Indian customers the ability to add funds to their accounts with ease. The option to add funds using credit cards issued in India has existed for some time now, and today's partnership will let you buy Skype credit or pay for subscriptions through debit cards and netbanking.

Here's how it works, as detailed on the Skype blog:

  • Go to Skype.com/rates
  • Select the subscription or the amount of Skype Credit you'd like to buy
  • On the checkout page, enter your Indian billing address and you'll be able to pay using your local credit, debit card or NetBanking

Payment processing is done through PayUbiz, and the feature certainly works as advertised. If you're looking to add funds, know that there's a 14.50% service tax applicable on all purchases made within the country.
