UK mobile operator GiffGaff has unveiled new plans to take advantage of faster 4G LTE speeds. Utilizing the O2 network, the virtual mobile operator is offering 4G on plans that start from £12 a month (for 1GB of data). There's no option for unlimited use, however, limiting power users to 5GB of 4G data for £18 a month.

Good news for you folk in the UK that use EE as your network of choice. Today see's the countries largest carrier announce their 4G service in 15 new towns – including – Gateshead, Birkenhead, East Grinstead, Leighton Buzzard, Wallasey, South Shields, Wakefield, Coatbridge, Lisburn, Bangor (NI), Newtownards, Omagh, Port Talbot and Neath. This follows the recent announcement that EE is expanding its double-speed 4G network to 20 more towns and cities before the end of 2014.

UK mobile operators Three and EE (Everything Everywhere) are to invest £1 billion in a shared 4G network agreement. According to the Financial Times, the two companies will work together by sharing mast and backhaul transmission costs as part of the joint investment in UK infrastructure. The goal is to provide greater flexibility for the two networks to control speeds and coverage, as well as improving efficiency of provided services as a whole.

It would appear that the UK mobile consumer is loving 4G, according to the latest statement from EE. The network, who was first to introduce LTE to the UK, had a target of signing up one million subscribers in 2013 and it only took ten months to get to that goal. During the following four months a further one million folk joined EE which goes to prove two things.

UK network EE has today announced it has teamed up with AT&T to offer visitors to the UK 4G LTE services, with more carriers to follow suit in the New Year. What this means (initially) for AT&T Windows Phone customers who pop over the pond is that they will automatically pick up the EE 4G network as long as you have a 4G enabled device.

We've received a tip that the New Zealand mobile operator Telecom is currently rolling out a firmware update for the Nokia Lumia 920. It's believed the update unlocks 4G connectivity, which was previously disabled. The network will be launching its 4G upgrade next month and this update will ensure Lumia 920 owners will be able to enjoy faster data transfer speeds.

The UK is still catching up when it comes to 4G. Even though major operators are backing LTE with new plans and upgrades in the works, the process is slow and consumers are having to deal with a rather long wait. While EE continues to expand on its LTE lead, Vodafone and O2 have begun slowly rolling out upgrades across their networks. O2 has unveiled more details on its 4G LTE pricing. The company announced earlier this month that 4G will be launching at the end of August, and while some hints to pricing were provided, today we've got some idea as to how much you'll be looking to fork out each month to take advantage of the increased data speeds. Starting at £26 for SIM-only plans and £32 a month with a 4G handset, O2 is clearly looking to compete with EE.

UK mobile operator O2 has announced that the company will be launching its 4G mobile network on August 29th. The operator will snap up second place in the LTE race here in the UK, following EE's incredible lead to get established over its competitors. Initially available in London, Leeds and Bradford, O2 will be planning to extend the service to cover a further 10 cities by 2014. 

This is the news many consumers have been waiting for. EE will now be challenged by O2 and competing networks as the likes of Vodafone and Three also hop on-board and launch their respective network upgrades. How much will you be looking to fork out for 4G on O2? The basic 4G tariff will be starting at £26 a month - though it's not yet known what the plan will include.

EE has announced plans to stock the Lumia 625, which was announced by Nokia yesterday in London. As well as taking up the most affordable 4G Windows Phone, the UK mobile operator has also expanded its LTE coverage to cover a further 10 locations. It makes perfect sense for the network to really take advantage of the cheaper 4G option to offer a more cost-effective solution to customers.
