900

Nokia had recently brought down the price of the Lumia 800, no doubt to help clear some inventory for the Windows Phone 8 launch. Seems like the price cut is doing wonders for sales in Finland where it’s purportedly selling out.

The Lumia 800 and 900 with the 100 Euro price cut certainly put them in the too good to miss bargain category. Could this price cut be just what Windows Phone needs to boost those numbers?

The title sounds familiar, right? It should, as this is the same Nokia offer as what we previously saw here in the UK. The manufacturer is offering Australian Lumia 800 and 900 owners the opportunity to claim a free pair of Purity HD headphones. If you have purchased a Lumia Windows Phone (either the 800 or 900) from today through to August 30th, you'll be eligible for a set of your own.

We've been informed the Lumia 900 Windows Phone is available to pre-order from Nokia in Brazil. The choice of black, cyan or white is present at a price tag of R$ 1.799,00 (about $880 / £560). The Lumia 900 is Nokia's flagship Windows Phone, sporting a 4.3" AMOLED display (with Clear Black technology), 1.4Ghz CPU, 8MP shooter (with FF camera) and 16GB storage.

No word has been given on the release date (though the website says "buy"), and Nokia's Lumia Momentum Map is of no help. We'll keep you guys posted once more information comes to light. Will you be ordering a shiny new Lumia 900?

Nokia recently brought along an official Windows Phone app for Six Flags amusement parks. The app enables users to view a map of their local Six Flags, locate services and points of interest within the park, and check out all the available rides (with intensity filters), plus much more. Part for the deal between the two companies is for the Lumia 900 to be advertised and promoted throughout the parks.

Now Nokia and Six Flags are running a sweepstakes where entrants could win a Lumia 900 and four tickets to any Six Flag theme park in the US. Pretty neat, eh? There are six prizes to give away, so be sure to get your entry in to be in with a chance of being picked. As usual, you are required to be 16 or above, and can only enter one person per email address per day, through July 31st.

To enter, head on over to the Six Flags website and fill in your details. Official rules are available so be sure to check them out before entering. Also check out our hands-on with the Six Flags Windows Phone app below.

You can download Six Flags from the Marketplace (Nokia Collection for Lumia handsets only).

Now officially $49.99 thru AT&T

Nokia has announced on their official blog that the Lumia 900 has indeed had its price slashed at AT&T, which now sits at just $49.99 with a two-year contract.

We published an article on Friday unveiling the potential offer, using multiple sources familiar with carrier plans. The high-end Windows Phone is perfect for those seeking a slick design, large display and a full-blown Lumia experience.

This deal comes in time for the debut of the pink aka magenta Lumia 900, which is set to be released this morning as well. While many would argue that the wait for Windows Phone 8 hardware is worth more than taking out a two-year deal with current generation hardware, we'd like to counter by reiterating just how brilliant the current Nokia Lumia family is. As well as wielding a device that has won multiple awards, you'll have access to all the OEM apps that Nokia have promised to update, even after Apollo is here with next generation Windows Phones.

Four colours are available including white, matte black, cyan and the now-available magenta (pink). To recap, the Lumia 900 features LTE, a 4.3" AMOLED display, 8MP camera (with FF shooter), 16GB storage and a 1.4Ghz chip. To top this offer off nicely, AT&T stores are still bundling $50 worth of accessories with each purchase. So, who's picking one up?

Nokia has today announced the pink Lumia 900 exclusively for AT&T in the US. The device is identical to the Lumia 900 we know and love, which is already stocked by the carrier in white, black and cyan. We've continuously looked at hints of a possible pink / magenta Lumia 900, and this announcement will please those who wish to stand out from the crowd.

As with all Lumia devices, customers will be able to take advantage of the app collection, which is exclusive to Nokia Windows Phones. Unfortunately there's no word on availability outside the states, though we'd imagine the manufacturer will launch the colour globally.

With Windows Phone 8 just around the corner, we expect many to hold onto their hard-earned cash for more advanced and future proof hardware. But should you choose to go for the magenta Lumia 900, then fear not as Windows Phone 7.8 will be on its way later this year.

According to a press release sent out by Nokia for a press event in New Delhi on July 6th, we could well be seeing the Dark Knight Windows Phones heading to India. BGR India reports that multiple sources have confirmed Nokia could be looking to launch the Lumia 900 in the country, which could sport a Dark Knight version if the above invite is anything to go by.

BGR also reports that Nokia could also be releasing the Lumia 610, the low-end Windows Phone "Tango" smartphone. As well as new hardware, the manufacturer is expected to be unveiling the Nokia Music Store in India for Lumia Windows Phones, including the already available Lumia 710 and 800. To finish off, speculation also suggest a Mix Radio app could well be on the way.

This is a massive spell of Déjà vu, folks. With what happened last time, we'll recommend taking this story with a whole mine of salt.

It seems Orange in Switzerland is potentially going through the same issue as O2 Germany last month by confirming that a Lumia 900 32GB version is actually on the way.

O2 Germany previously stated on Twitter that they would be stocking the 32GB version and it was also listed on the website. They then subsequently smashed all hope and dreams by following-up with a "Sorry guys, typo error" announcement. With that in mind, let's not get too excited about what's happening over at Orange, for now anyway.

A reader of the French community MonWindowsPhone got in touch with Orange Switzerland to query if they know of said Lumia 900 version, the response was a confirmation. Now, we're not ones to continuously approach every rumour with skepticism, but this is all down on a reader contacting a carrier representative.

Plus, we've got a response from Nokia UK stating they have no knowledge of a Lumia 900 sporting 32GBs of storage. We'll continue to sit on the fence for now, but that's not to say we can't see Nokia launching a 32GB version in the future, especially with Windows Phone "Apollo" on the way.

Nokia is moving closer to its China launch of the Lumia 900, according to dates reported by Chinese news website Sina Tech. The Lumia 900 was approved for use on GSM and WCDMA networks by State Radio Regulation Committee (SRRC) on April 18, and the website is pointing to a June release for the Windows Phone. The younger brother, the Lumia 800c, was launched in the country back in March.

AT&T has been witnessing expectation surpassing results with the 4G version of Nokia's flagship Windows Phone since its launch earlier this year. Let's not forget the news of the platform market share overtaking the iPhone in China, which should continue to capture more of the market with the introduction of this high-end device. The Lumia 900 sports a 4.3" ClearBlack AMOLED display, 1.4GHz chip, 512MB RAM, and 16GB of storage.

Nokia has been sending out invitations to the media for an event today, which will put the Lumia 900 and 610 on show at an undisclosed location in Sydney. Australia already have the 800 and 710, which will be joined by the flagship and budget Windows Phones to provide consumers more choice.

As the media event is on May 17th, speculations of a late June launch for both the Lumia 900 and 610 have already been published. A burning question will be if the Lumia 900 will be the 4G LTE or international version supporting just HSPDA+ DC.  The 900 sports a 1.4Ghz chip, 4.3 AMOLED display and a 8MP rear shooter with a 1MP front-facing camera. The low-end Lumia 610 features an 800Mhz processor with 256MB RAM, 5MP camera and a 3.2 LCD display.

Of course, Mobicity has already been taking pre-orders for the Lumia 900 for a few months now.

The Lumia 900 is on its way to Norwegian retailer Elkjøp and is set for a June 1st launch. Priced at 4,290 kr, the flagship Nokia Windows Phone was previously seen on a terminal at the retailer where orders of each colour where spotted. This availability date is some time behind the expected shipping dates for UK retailers, which is probably a knock-on effect of the "overwhelming demand" of the Lumia 900 in the states.

The Lumia 900 is available to pre-order in black, blue and white, with financing options should they be required. Will you be picking yours up?

The UK carrier Orange has the Lumia 900 listed on the help section of their website. Not only is the Windows Phone detailed with photos, tips, helpful tutorials and more, but the user guide is available. Now, we're not ones to jump the gun but this appears to be a pretty definitive 'yes' to the Lumia 900 coming to Orange.

The next question is "when?". With the delays that are occurring throughout the country and beyond, it could be quite the wait. Then again when the retail chains all launch the smartphone later this month, carriers might not be far behind (if at all).

The Lumia 800 and 710 are both "out of stock" on the carrier's website. With this hint at the Lumia 900 joining the two Windows Phones, this could be a sign that Orange is satisfied with sales thus far. Orange is also set to launch the Lumia 610 with NFC technology later this year.

Ben Rudolph has taken a break from the Smoked by Windows Phone marketing campaign and kicked off a humorous Twitter competition that had users sending in entries to win a Lumia 900. To be in with a chance of winning, an ingenious caption had to be created for the above photo. Should the entry be original and witty then Rudolph would take it into account. Today, the winner was announced on the official team blog.

So what was the winning tweet / caption? See below:

"It took a heck of a lot of scrubbing, but I finally got all the cyan out."

Yep. We approve. That is a pretty good caption. Congratulations to @dnanian for the submission and winning a Lumia 900. Check out the #captionthalumia hashtag for more caption entries. Some good news that followed this contest is Rudolph stated that he'd like to do something similar in the future. Perhaps we'll see some more spontaneous marketing from the team to compliment the smoked campaign?

Ben (the "PC Guy" and "Mass Windows Phone Marketing Agent") Rudolph is returning with a slightly different attempt to give away Windows Phones. Should you desire what we'd assume to be a white Lumia 900, then you might be in with a chance of winning one (image / competition idea courtesy of Nokia For Us). Simply use your creative powers to create a suitable caption for the above photo, which sits the Nokia device next to a white bar of Dove soap.

How does one enter with their snazzy caption? Simply tweet your entry, adding the #captionthatlumia (click to view some of the entires already published) hashtag. The competition is running through until April 29th (11:59pm PT) when Rudolph will create a post on the Windows team blog announcing the winners. You can enter as many captions as you like, we look forward to reading yours. It's at least a refreshing change from the Smoked by Windows Phone campaign.

The Australian carrier Telstra has announced a new Windows Phone competition featuring the Lumia 800. "The Lumia Quest" will see 10 glossy new white Lumia 800 handsets being given away in 5 cities across the country this coming May. The members of public will be able to follow social media clues posted on the official Facebook page to find the hidden Lumia stash.

The competition is finders keepers and is taking place in Brisbane (May 7th), Melbourne (May 8th), Perth (May 9th), Adelaide (May 10th) and Sydney (May 11th). What do you receive should you manage to successfully find the handsets on the treasure hunt? Well the white Lumia 800 of course, but along with the Windows Phone, the ten devices come with a Telstra $50 Pre-Paid Cap Encore recharge, with $1000.00 credit and 2GB of data. Not bad, eh?

So who's heading down to the events? Keep an eye out on the official Telstra Facebook page for more information as well as the clues on the competition days.

Update: We've just corrected the article that it's indeed the Lumia 800, not the Lumia 900.

UK mobile phone retailer Phones 4u has sent out a press statement confirming the Lumia 900 UK delay due to 'overwhelming demand' in the U.S. The "exclusive to Phones 4u" white Lumia 900, along with the black version, have had their availability date pushed back from April 27th to May 14th.

As an apology to those who ordered either Windows Phone on (or before) April 16th, the retailer is bundling a pair of Nokia Purity in-ear headphones with the Lumia 900 (in addition to the free Nokia Play 360 wireless speaker) at no extra cost. As mentioned above, stock is expected to be ready to ship by May 14th.

The Lumia 610, 710, 800 and 900 were all set to launch in the Philippines, but the Windows Phones have had their entry into the country delayed due to supporting carriers. According to Electronic Pulp, all four Lumia devices will not be arriving anytime soon, which is a massive blow for both Nokia and Windows Phone with the Philippines being a rather important market to tackle.

We previously covered the Nokia launch party of the Lumia 710 and 800, but it seems as though things have gone downhill for the manufacturer since, with no immediate plan to provide the 610 and 900 with the same treatment. The carrier Globe Telecom is set to stock the Lumia 800, while Smart Communications picked up the remaining three Windows Phones. Nokia has reportedly given up exclusive rights to sell the handsets in the Philippines.

The Finnish manufacturer has an agreement with both Globe and Smart for only the carriers to market and sell the Lumia Windows Phone family of devices. This prevents the manufacturer from bringing in retail units and getting them into consumer hands in a speedy fashion, which has led to subsequent delays due to carrier demands regarding their own exclusive launches. The Lumia Windows Phones were originally scheduled for an early 2012 release in a number of countries. Thus far the rollout has been somewhat successful, but there appears to be a few cracks appearing in the Nokia walls.

According to the Nokia employee that Electronic Pulp who was questioned regarding the delays, the Lumia 610 low-budget handset was planned to be out in the public domain during the first week of April, but the manufacturer has hit a wall with the carrier agreement and now can't provide an accurate ETA on launch dates for any device. The company is reportedly working hard at ironing out the creases and hopefully both Nokia and the two carriers will work things out quickly.

So, to recap (as it confused us slightly too): the Lumia 710 and 800 availability is delayed, and the launch of the Lumia 610 and 900 is also delayed, all due to the agreement made with local operators. Should you be patiently waiting for any of the Nokia Windows Phones on either Globe or Smart, you might have a few more weeks to see through.

President and CEO of AT&T Mobility, Ralph de la Vega, was interviewed on CNBC recently answering questions surrounding both AT&T's latest financial report and the rumoured iPhone 5. One would ask, "what has this got to do with Windows Phone?" Well, nothing. But what's both humorous and surprising is Vega holds up a shiny new Lumia 900 instead of discussing the iPhone.

Check out the above video, at around the 7:40 mark. He jokes around the questions being fired by the reporters and states that the Lumia 900 is a fantastic device and carries one around with him as a daily smartphone. We're aware that Nokia has a deal with AT&T for employees to exclusively use the 4G Windows Phone, but it's good to see the captain of the ship actively promoting it on public television.

We've had the pricing details revealed by Clove UK for the Lumia 900, and now we've got the expected date of availability. Be sure to scribble in May 16th should you be looking forward to getting your hands on the handset that's currently making way in the U.S. Also, if you haven't already, check out our in-depth review of the Lumia 900 (AT&T version).

The date is slightly later than what Mobile Fun reported on, but we now have firm dates for when it's finally hitting the shores. Both the Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U have pre-order and interest registration pages up, but if you'd rather take one unlocked Clove has your back with a price of £460.80 (including VAT). This is a slight reduction of their earlier pricing of £528.

Although we take it for granted sometimes that everyone who buys a Lumia device (610, 710, 800 or 900) either knows Windows Phone or can figure things out, that is far from the case.

In turn, Nokia today has released a new app called Lumia Highlights and it's there to lend a helping hand to those who want to discover cool new things about their Lumia as well as the Windows Phone OS. The app features useful tips, tutorials, latest news on great apps and of course they hook you with the great accessories.

While by no means revolutionary, the app is nicely laid out and should give new and old users alike something to poke around to discover new things, so we like it.

Pick up Lumia Highlights here on your Nokia Lumia phone.
