ixigo.com (pronounced ‘ik-si-go’) is a travel search engine in India. The service acts as an infomediary that aggregates travel websites to compare information and deals. ixigo does not handle bookings but instead redirects the users to book directly from other online travel agencies.

The official ixigo app – ixigo Flights Search – landed on the Windows Phone Store a few weeks ago and allowed you to find the best airfares across India’s leading OTAs like MakeMyTrip, goibibo, via, Expedia, and others. However, the latest update v2.0 also adds searching for hotels and trains.

Goibibo, one of the fast growing online travel booking platforms in India, now has a Windows Phone app to book flights on the go. Incidentally, Goibibo has a Windows Store app since last year.

Like the Windows 8 app, this one is pretty basic too. While it is very clean and fast, it’s limited in offerings. The app does not allow the booking of bus tickets, hotels, and travel packages as available on their website. Even for flight bookings, the app only allows the booking of domestic flight tickets.

If you recall, all the way back at the beginning of last year, India's Jet Airways helped celebrate the release of the Lumia 800 in India by draping many of their planes in Nokia advertisements.

They have since followed up with a fantastic app for Windows Phone 7.X and 8, which came out at the beginning of May. The Jet Airways app covers you from booking, to flight status to rewards.

We may have missed it at the beginning of the month, but here's your chance to play catchup with us!

Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Air Travel Apps

This week's Windows Phone Central Roundup focuses on travel apps, more specifically air travel. With the Holiday Season in full swing, many will be taking to the friendly skies to travel to visit friends, family or just to get away from things.

These apps help you track flights, find your way around airport terminals and even help you remember where you parked your car. We've plucked five apps from the top rated Travel Apps listings in the Windows Phone Store for this week's roundup. It just so happens the five apps that jumped out at us are free so you can try them all without cost and decide which suits your needs and tastes the best. If we've missed your favorite, feel free to sound off in the comments.
