alien invasion

Commando Jack is a tower defense game for Windows Phone 8 that has you battling wave after wave of alien invaders. While game play isn't much different than other tower defense game, Commando Jack steps out slightly by letting you jump inside a defensive turret for a first person perspective on things.

The game has plenty of weapons upgrades, a wide range of enemies to defeat and several global venues to defend. Graphics are nicely drawn up and with plenty of gaming variations and difficulties, Commando Jack will keep you on your toes. Commando Jack has been well received over on iOS and should see similar success here on the Windows Phone platform.

CJ: Strike Back, saving your city from alien invasion

CJ: Strike Back is a arcade styled game for Windows Phone where you play the role of the hero. A hero set on saving he city from invading aliens.  Oddly, you do so by running up the screen jumping from side to side from building lining the sides of the screen, taking out the bad guys in mid jump. The further you progress up the buildings, the higher your score.

I'm not sure how much staying power CJ: Strike Back has but for short bits of time the game isn't a bad time waster.

Windows Phone Game Review: Smashing Planets

Smashing Planets is a rather entertaining Windows Phone game that is a missile defense styled game.  You are required to defend Earth from evil alien invaders that are determined to smash the planet into tiny little bits. Your perspective in the game is from space and you have an arsenal of missiles to take out the alien ships and bosses before they blow things up.

Smashing Planets has over sixteen levels of play, really nice graphics and addictive game play. It's a neat little game that is a very nice time waster.  Smashing Planets is a nice addition to your Windows Phone gaming library.

Hyper Defence XT - Preview

Hyper Defence XT is an upcoming gaming title headed to the Windows Phone Marketplace. We were fortunate enough to get a sneak peak at the game and found it to be an entertaining, slightly addictive tower defense game.

The premise is that you are defending Outpost 26 from invading aliens. Hyper Defence has 15 levels of play, 7 fully upgradeable turret defenses, collectable Hyper Energy power boosts, and an unlockable Survival Mode.

Game play is not unlike any other tower defense game in that you have to survive a certain number of waves in each level to advance. As you take out enemy forces, you earn credits to buy or upgrade your defenses.

Defensive placement is key (as it is with any tower defense game) and to purchase a weapon you tap, hold and drag the turret to the desired location. A green halo around the weapon indicates the location is suitable for placement. Weapons fire automatically when the enemy comes into range and to upgrade, simply tap on the weapon to pull up the upgrade menu.

Hyper Defence XT isn't too easy to become boring or too hard to become frustrating. The developer has found a good middle ground with regards to difficulty to keep the game interesting.

Hyper Defence XT is expected in the Marketplace any day now with a free trial and the full version running £.99 (about $1.60 U.S.). We'll update the post with the Marketplace links as soon as they become available. If you like tower defense games, Hyper Defence XT is worth checking out.
