Before the New Developers Conference (www.ndc-london.com) kicks off in London, there's a day planned for Visual Studio 2013. December 3rd will see a free pre-conference workshop set up for developers and co. to check out. The best part? You don't need to be attending NDC to pop along.

Did we mention there's going to be some folks from the VS team in the US present, along with local MS reps?

Are you so excited for Microsoft’s launch of Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 that you wish you could lineup outside a Microsoft store and wait till 12:01 AM to get one? If the answer to that question is yes, then you just might be in luck! Ten Microsoft retail stores will be hosting midnight launch events – and one might be near you.

They say copying is the best form of flattery, but we're not ones to mess around with petty arguments about who copied who when it comes to smartphones. That said, we will sometimes dive into the pool of humor to rock around and troll slightly.

Today, we're looking at Apple hosting an event on the same day as Nokia. Coincidence?

Microsoft has begun firing out invitations for an event which is to be held in New York City on September 23rd. The media have been invited to what we expect to be the unveiling of the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets, running Windows RT and Windows 8.1 respectively.

We've got some bad news for those who are looking for something slightly smaller as sources familiar with company plans have confirmed with The Verge that Microsoft will not be launching the rumoured "Surface mini." So what can we all look to expect from the event?

This is just a late (yeah, we know it's short notice) reminder that the Windows Phone Dev Day in Bournemouth is occurring tomorrow (August 31st). The event will be held at Redweb with numerous souls preparing to give talks and mingle with attendees. The event was held at the same location last year, where we also gave a quick speech on Windows Phone Central. The day turned out to be a great opportunity for networking.

Nokia has teased on its official blog an announcement that will be made tomorrow. Unfortunately no details have been published, except for the image above. All that has been publicly revealed is that something "big" is arriving and the event will kick off at 9am UK time (BST / GMT+1). Luckily we'll be heading along tomorrow to cover said event so be sure to remain tuned to our feeds for the morning.

We're live from London's Earls Court exhibition center for Samsung Premiere 2013 -- the Korean manufacturer's big event where it's promising to show off new Galaxy (Android) and Windows (ATIV) devices. So we can expect to see more Galaxy S4 phones -- and on the Windows side, there's the possibility of more tablets and ultrabooks, and maybe some new Windows Phone devices too.

Samsung has unveiled an upcoming event, which will be held at Earls Court, London on June 20th. So what is the company up to? The press teaser sports both the Galaxy and ATIV brands, used for Android and Windows hardware respectively. Could we expect a new smartphone running Microsoft's operating system? Possibly, but we'll put our money on Windows laptops and a new tablet or two, as well as Android goodies.

This year's HACKED event, which is a free-to-attend weekend of intense learning, building and sharing of cool stuff (that's what the website says) has sold out on tickets. Fear not though as the organisers plan to release more batches through June. Whether you're an expert, novice or a developer or designer, everyone is invited to take part (should you manage to get a place, of course).

Developers have a hard time getting word out about their work, especially since the platform is still relatively young. Here in the UK we have the Windows Phone User Group, headed up by Matt Lacey (@mrlacey). The monthly meetings enable developers to showcase their apps and / or work in all areas of Windows Phone. We tag along each time to offer more support for developers and to see what's new in the community.

It's a perfect opportunity to get involved and also to meet ourselves for some coverage on this very website. This coming Monday (May 20th), the group is heading to Nokia's new offices in Paddington, London. We encourage all developers to register, come along and demonstrate their work to the audience. As an incentive, there's a special prize on offer too for the best app. Who doesn't want free promotion these days?

Nokia has a number of events lined up for the month of May, including a global announcement tomorrow in New Delhi, India. The company has published a new post on its official blog to detail webcast times for those unable to attend. What are we expecting to see from the company? We'll put some money down on new Asha products to follow the recently announced Asha 210 or even a low-end Lumia Windows Phone.

Walk into any mobile phone shop anywhere and you’ll be greeted with row after row of rectangle shaped devices. How on earth does one choose which phone to buy when faced with this veritable sea of similar looking handsets? Nokia have done good work with their promotion of their Lumia range, often having dedicated displays to highlight the devices in stores but this alone does not sell devices.

As Windows Phone does break away from the standard looking icon-based user interface and offer something new, there is a need to tell its story. We checked in to the ‘Meet Windows Phone’ event yesterday evening to see what Microsoft and O2 are doing to engage the man and woman on the street.

Nokia and Deadmau5 came together once again in the name of Lumia and produced an event of lights and magic for many who managed to attend the action in London on Wednesday evening. A light show was hosted, as well as an aftermath concert at Electric Brixton, which shared a live stream of the London square with those who were watching online.

So we've seen how the Lumia 920 holds up when attached to the front of a Land Rover, or at live concerts, but what's the quality like when you're (like many) recording while grooving to the beat? We decided to head on down to the Deadmau5 event in Brixton, London last night to see how our Lumia 920s would perform in low light, with high volume levels and an obscene amount of movement.
