Handyscan

Handyscan from JDB Pocketware is a popular Windows Phone app that lets you scan, adjust, and share documents. Handyscan supports multiple page scans as well as Skydrive and Dropbox support for backing-up your images to the cloud.

Normally the ad-free, fully leaded version of Handyscan will run you $2.99. If you've been on the fence about Handyscan because of the price, we've got some good news. It's on sale.

JDB Pocketware has a nice selection of Windows Phone apps over at the Marketplace including Handyscan, SkyManager and 7Dialer. To celebrate reaching 1,000 likes over on Facebook, the Windows Phone developer has decided to share the joy by offering all their titles for just $.99 this weekend.

Just head on over to JDB Pocketware's Facebook page and "like" them. You'll then be sent to a page that has the link to JDB Pocketware's software sales page where you can send the app links to your Windows Phone.  The sale covers JDB Pocketware's entire app catalog including the latest title Fat You (a photo morphing app) and their financial app, MoBudget.

For many of the Windows Phone apps, this is a $2.00 savings. So if you were thinking about moving from Handyscan Free to the paid version, now's your chance to save a few bucks.

Update: If you don't have a Facebook account, you can still take advantage of the sale prices.  Just go to the Marketplace and search for JDB Pocketware (or the software title itself).  The listings should reflect the sales prices.  Just remember the sale ends on July 2nd.

Thanks, everyone, for the tip!

Handyscan updated and goes on sale!

Handyscan is a very nice Windows Phone app that allows you to scan documents, share them by email and upload them to your SkyDrive account. We have been impressed with Handyscan and it was recently updated.  As an added bonus, Handyscan is on sale this week. Just a few of Handyscan's key features include:

  • Independent scanning resolution and flash options
  • Deep zoom in/out controls
  • Scan multiple pages per document and save as single file
  • Import/export photos
  • SkyDrive and Dropbox support
  • Scan digitalize signatures
  • Align and crop scanned documents

The app was recently updated to version 3.11 to fix a few minor bugs and add automatic document naming (you can set the parameters in the app's settings). Along with the update, JDB Pocketware is offering the full version of Handyscan for $.99 (regular price is $2.99)

There is a free, ad supported version of Handyscan (slightly limited in functionality) but for $.99 the full version is a steal of a deal. You can find the full version of Handyscan here at the Windows Phone Marketplace and the free version can be found here.

It's really one heck of a deal on the full version.

Handyscan updated to version 3.0

For those not familiar, HandyScan is an application for your Windows Phone that allows you to take a picture of a document, convert it to .PDF format, and share it through email.  We reviewed Handyscan way back when and found it to be a very nice document scanner for your Windows Phone.

The app was recently updated to bring some new features into the mix. Features that only add to the quality of this app.  You have a new, flexible cropping tool with perspective/skew correction, more streamlined process for sending documents and Dropbox support.

You also have a few performance tweaks such as an increased connection time out when sending an email over slow connections, disabling the phone's sleep function while sending or uploading files to Dropbox and matching the app's tile icon to your phone's theme color.

There is a free trial for Handyscan available and the full version runs $2.99. You also have a free version of HandyScan that lacks .PDF conversion (documents are saved as .JPG files). You can find the full version of Handyscan here and the free version here (both links opens Zune) at the Marketplace.

Handyscan (Lite) now available

JDB Pocketware introduced Handyscan some time ago for Windows Phone 7. Handyscan is a personal document scanner for your Windows Phone that uses your phone's camera to scan and save documents. Handyscan is a very good choice for those looking for a document scanner but some saw it a little on the pricey side.  For those who saw price as an issue, a solution has become available.

JDB Pocketware has now released Handyscan (Lite), a free version of the original document scanner. The key features for the lite version aren't much different than the pay version and include:

  • Automatic optimization of scanned images
  • Zoom in/out capabilities
  • Align and crop scanned document
  • Add text to document (fill in forms)
  • Scan multiple pages per document and save them as one file

The features the Lite version lack includes:

  • Choosing the format you can email documents in (JPEG or PDF)
  • Choosing the size and quality of scanned results you send out

If you need a document scanner for your Windows Phone and are hesitant because of the cost, Handyscan Lite may be the solution you're looking for. You can get your free copy of Handyscan Lite here (opens your Zune desktop) at the Marketplace.
