Lazyworm Apps

We still lack an official YouTube app on Windows Phone, but have some solid third party offerings. Metrotube and myTube are the two YouTube apps constantly vying for a spot on your Start screen. However, Metrotube hasn’t been updated since last July and some users are reporting that videos won’t play. Good news though, not only is a fix on the way for Metrotube users experiencing issues, but a beta for the next release is about to take place. Details after the break.

Weave is one of the most popular RSS readers for Windows Phone. It has been universally loved since it first launched way back around the same period Windows Phone 7 launched in 2010. The Windows Phone version is made by Seles Games, but this past year they teamed up with Lazyworm Apps to bring the same app to Windows 8. The app was just updated on Windows 8, so let’s check out what’s new and improved in this latest recent.

One app that has been popular on Windows Phone for a very long time is Weave. The news app is always floating near the top of the “news + weather” section in the Windows Phone Store and easily maintains an average four star rating.

Seles Games, the developer of Weave for Windows Phone, is teaming up with Lazyworm Apps (MetroTube, Tweetro+) to bring Weave to the big screen – Windows 8. We met up with the guys from Lazyworm and had a first look at Weave this past week during //BUILD/.

Video and details after the break!

Windows Phone and Windows 8 have always had passionate developers with equally motivated fans (you). Two of your favorites are teaming up. Lazyworm Apps is teaming up with Seles Games to bring the popular RSS newsreader Weave to Windows 8.

Weave has been around since the beginning of Windows Phone, becoming better with each and every update. The most significant update came out at the tail end of last year bringing with it support for Windows Phone 8. Besides getting praise from us here at Windows Phone Central, Weave has near universal acclaim in its Store ratings from all you out there. It’s a fast, fluid and beautiful application that should be at the top of your list of news readers.

Tweetro+, the popular Twitter client for Windows has been updated. This marks the start of a substantial number of updates the developer (Lazyworm) has planned for the course of the next handful of months. While we're excited by updates being pushed out, the developer is also reportedly working on ensuring the transition from Twitter API 1.0 to version 1.1 (set to arrive on March 5th) is smooth for consumers.

Here is a friendly public service announcement for all the Metrotube fans out there, the app has currently been hidden from the Store and will be back shortly.

LazyWorm Apps, the team behind Metrotube for Windows Phone and Tweetro for Windows 8 have always received high praise for their 3rd party YouTube app. They just never seem to catch a break from Google. The team has always had to use workarounds to get high quality streaming to work in the app. Well, Google recently made some back-end changes that broke all 3rd party YouTube apps, like Metrotube.

The updates for Microsoft’s latest mobile OS keep on coming and this one is very welcome indeed. Lazyworm have just released an update to their very popular Metrotube app for watching YouTube videos, joining the other new or updated Windows Phone 8 Apps. The update brings the release to version 4.0.

A long-time favourite on Windows Phone, the app makes great use of the Metro UI, taking full advantage of the new large tiles and introduces the ability to preload videos for later viewing. Read on past the break to find out more.

MetroTube, the rebranded, updated version of LazyTube, has finally launched in the Marketplace. Yes folks, the much anticipated YouTube client for Windows Phone that includes many new features, Live Tiles and a smooth, elegant interface that embraces the Metro UI is finally here for you to download and use daily. What's more, we're told it's launching with a special offer: an unrestricted, unlimited, ad-free trial in which you only pay the $0.99 if you feel the app is worth it.

That's some confidence right there.

A free, ad-supported version is in the final process of being approved for the Marketplace and in addition, we're told video-uploading will be featured in the next major update. So sit tight for that one. For those who opt for this $0.99 edition, you get

  • HD video streaming
  • Early access to new features
  • Chameleon tiles adapt to phone theme
  • Warm fuzzy feeling for supporting developers!

We took the app for a spin last week and walked away very impressed with the redesign and new features, so we have to give the thumbs up to this app for you YouTube fans. Certainly we expect this app to climb to the top of the most-downloaded on Windows Phone as it deserves a lot of the praise it is getting. So without further ado, here's the download link to the Marketplace.

Sound off in comments on your thoughts!

Major update in the works for LazyTube

There's a major update in the works for Lazyworm Apps two Windows Phone Youtube apps, Lazytube and YouTube. No dates are available on the release, it'll be version 3.0 for Lazytube, but we're hearing it it won't hit the Marketplace until Mango is officially launched.

What's 3.0 bring to the table? All we know is what the above sneak peak image can tell. Which looks really nice by the way.

Updates will be posted on LazyWorms' Facebook (facebook.com/lazywormapps) and Twitter (@lazywormapps) pages from time to time.  The developers are also open to suggestions, comments and feedback that might help improve things (not that LazyTube and Youtube are shabby as is).

If you haven't given them a try, you can find LazyWorm's Free YouTube app here and the $.99 LazyTube app here (bothe links open Zune) over at the Marketplace.

Thanks Atta for the heads up!
