The Xbox One has been out for nearly two weeks. We’re loving ours and the majority of you folks are too. However, no product is perfect and the Xbox One is no exception to this rule. It will of course get better, just the Xbox 360 did before, but there will be some growing pains along the way. There’s now a community effort on Reddit (and a dedicated website) where users are putting together their suggestions for how Microsoft can improve the Xbox One.

Meet Major Nelson at these stops on the Xbox One tour

The Xbox One is poised to hit your TV room on November 22nd. It’s aiming to be your all-in-one entertainment system where you can play games, watch movies, listen to music, Skype to friends, and much more. We can’t wait to get ours after playing with the device earlier this summer at E3 2013. If you haven’t had a chance to see one in person you might want to check out the Xbox One tour that’s happening across North America. Details below.

The launch of Microsoft’s next gaming console, Xbox One, is right around the corner and the company is still suffering fallout from a poor launch event. Instead of judging the console from what you read online, wouldn’t it be great to see it in person? If you are in the New England area of the United States next week– you just might be in luck.

The Xbox 360 came out in November 2005, yes that 2005 from nearly 8 years ago. Over time, the Xbox 360 continued to improve with software updates and hardware refreshes that only changed the external look of the device. The Xbox One is coming sometime this November and with it the next generation. Microsoft has a cool sample showing the difference in voice quality between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One. Let’s check it out.

Want to get a hands on demo of the Xbox One and a chance to play a few launch titles before any of your friends? If you live in the Seattle, Washington area then you are in luck.

Microsoft’s Major Nelson will be holding an Xbox Meet Up at the Microsoft Store in University Village on Thursday, August 29th from 7:30pm - 9:00pm. According to the Major’s blog post, attendees will be able to join members of the Xbox team to play a selection of Xbox One games that will be featured at PAX the day after.

We’re all pumped for the Xbox One’s impending launch. We still don’t know exactly when the console will appear in stores other than the month of November. It must be getting close at any rate because Microsoft has just released an official unboxing video as well as three accessory-specific videos.

Normally I don’t care for unboxing videos, but this one is an exception. For one: it gives us a nice look at how the Xbox one’s components relate to each other in size, not to mention the ports on the back and side of the console. All good things.

The real news however is what comes inside the box. It’s got all the stuff we expected plus one item we didn’t… a Chat Headset! And the video reveals that the Chat Headset won’t just come with the “Day One Edition” of the console. It will be included with every system. That’s a victory for communication and teamwork in Xbox One games!

E3 2013: Microsoft Xbox Meet and Greet

Today is the first “official” day of E3, but yesterday Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft and EA had their big press conferences where they announced games for this year and next. It also happened to be the same day that Xbox’s Major Nelson and company put on an Xbox meet up at the local Microsoft Store in the Westfield Century City mall.

I decided to check it out while Dan was busy in New York City watching the world premiere of the Man of Steel. Pictures of the Xbox meet up after the break!

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 needs only one thing to make it happy, a Kinect sensor. The news announced today is that Microsoft’s 'eyes and ears' into your living room is now getting a permanent price drop to US $109.99 (previous price was $130 USD).

There is no explanation for the price adjustment though presumably it has to do with reduced production costs and slowing sales (see the AJC report on the slowdown in the gaming industry). We’re going take it the Major just wants to give more of us the chance to jump up and down and shout at our TV sets. What a nice chap!

Microsoft has announced open enrollment for their 2012 (fall) Xbox LIVE update for the Xbox 360 console.

The new features for this update we revealed at E3 back in June are the ones coming for this update so getting a sneak peek is always a blast. Some of those new features for this preview include:

  • Internet Explorer for Xbox
  • Personalized dashboard recommendations
  • Enhanced category search and discovery features

For those who wanted a recap on that Microsoft Backstage event that happened yesterday, it may be awhile.

The video chat event, hosted by Xbox guru Major Nelson and focusing on the new Xbox LIVE + Windows Phone 7 gaming, evidently crashed due to too much interest. Hey, too much is better than too little!

As of right now, the video is not up, but we expect it sometime "this week" which is quickly coming to an end. It also seems from Nelson's other tweet that they may do the whole event again, so everyone can join in?

We'll keep you posted.

For those who want even more information on Microsoft's plans for Windows Phone 7 and Xbox integration, clear your calendar for this Thursday August 19, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. PST (4:00 p.m. CST).

Microsoft will be hosting yet-another "Backstage" video chat even, this time with none other than Major Nelson (Xbox folks know him pretty well). There you can

...get answers on Xbox LIVE titles available at launch, see more Games hub features, and get the total recap of our announcements at Gamescom.

Sounds cool.  It may just be a rehash of what we've seen so far, but maybe we'll catch a glimpse of something new. To access, you'll need to sign up, which is easy enough with a Live mail account or not. You can do that here and get the event details.

We'll of course try to do a recap for you, 'cause that's how we roll.
