Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Valentine's Day Apps

For those who have been out of town or simply hiding under a rock, this Friday is Valentine’s Day. If you have a significant other and have completely forgotten about this “special” day, we have a few Windows Phone apps that may keep you out of the doghouse.

This week’s Windows Phone Central Roundup falls a few days early, to help those who suffer from losing track of time and possibly saving countless relationships globally. Quick disclaimer though, we don’t guarantee any of these Windows Phone apps will save you from sleeping on the couch, save you from the silent treatment or successfully wooing your partner if you have completely forgotten about Valentine's Day.

Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Food and Dining Apps

We all have been there. It is time to eat and you have no clue what you are in the mood to cook or cannot think of a place to go. Luckily, there are plenty of Windows Phone apps to help point your appetite in the right direction. The Windows Phone Store has a large assortment of apps that will help us locate restaurants or find a recipe that will hit the right spot.

Today we have tapped four of the top rated Food and Dining apps for this week’s Windows Phone Central Roundup. These apps mainly deal with finding a place to grab a bite to eat on the go or selecting the right place when you are in the mood for a sit down meal. However, for good measure, we do toss in one Windows Phone app to help you find a tasty recipe for those times you prefer to stay home and cook in.

Hooray for more Windows Phone 8 apps! That’s our feeling every time we report on an official app getting bumped to take advantage of the latest features in our OS. Today’s app is OpenTable (www.opentable.com) the must-have service for those in big cities who want to easily reserve a table at their favorite (but busy) restaurant.

The previous Windows Phone 7.x version wasn’t too bad, but it was a bit slow and lacked any ‘wow’ factors on board. Version 2.0 though is now live in the Store for Windows Phone 8 devices and it’s certainly much better, in our opinion.
