Aria, the Siri-like personal assistant for Windows Phone, is free for a day on Windows Phone Store in India.

The app is different from other similar apps for Windows Phone since it uses the native Windows Phone Speech Recognition for commands instead of processing on online servers. This way the app doesn’t hit your mobile data usage much and also tends to works faster. Also, apart from the obvious US and UK English language support, the app works well for Indian accent as well.

Indigo is a voice controlled personal assistant for your Windows Phone 8 device. The app was recently updated to version 1.0.38.0 which gives the app the ability to launch the app from the Windows Button.

Now according to the change log you should be able to execute some predefined inputs by pressing the Windows Button but the best we could do is simply launch the app itself. Every time I said "Indigo + [your question/request], a Bing search was launched.  Granted my Southern accent could be getting in the way but it feels as a little more fine tuning is needed.

We mentioned the release of Maluuba for Windows Phone 8 the other day and had the opportunity to tinker with the voice controlled personal assistant over the past few days. Maluuba is a "Siri"-like app that lets you initiate searches, set alarms, check your schedules, and other core functions with your voice.

While Maluuba is a nice first step there is still room for improvement. If you're looking for a voice command app for your Windows Phone, Maluuba is worth trying.

Maluuba is a personal assistant app that takes advantage of voice commands to help you make it through the day. It's a popular app over on the Android format and today, the company has announced the app is headed to Windows Phone 8 devices.

Maluuba uses your Windows Phone's speech recognition for input and then uses it's proprietary, patent-pending language engine that ensures great accuracy in interpreting your requests. Maluuba uses a statistical approach to achieve a higher accuracy than many other assistant apps that may use rules or other methods for understanding that don't always handle natural sentences.
