product placement

Flo Rida is no stranger to Nokia Windows Phones. Back in February in the video for 'Wild Ones' the popular artist was seen using the Lumia 710 and Twitter. Though it was just in passing, it was a nice nod for Nokia's newest phone.

In Mr. Rida's new video (can we call him that?) for 'Whistle' the shiny and sexy glossy-white Lumia 900 is the star. While the 900 actually doesn't shake its booty (creative license, sorry), it does get some screen time.

Starting at about 1:47 and a few seconds later you can see the popular Windows Phone being used for some photos and sending an MMS. Not a bad plug for the phone, we suppose.

Check out the video after the break... Warning: NSFW [lots of badonkadonks]. Thanks, Daniel, for the tip!

Edit: There looks to be a copyright issue where playing it on mobile phones, ironcially, is not supported. You can try through your web browser instead.

We really don't have any idea who Flo Rida is nor how popular they may be but it's still nice to see some Windows Phone product placement.

Eagle-eyed reader Benjamin C. caught the Nokia Lumia 710 being briefly shown around the one-minute mark in the video. You can clearly see the Nokia branding as the user hammers out a Tweet using the official Twitter app for Windows Phone.  Sure, it's not a game changer but we suppose these little nuggets of pop-culture visibility help the image of Windows Phone.

Update: Evidently, Flo Rida is very popular and we're very lame for not knowing that. Whatevs, punk rock for life!

Video after the break, if you dare.

In the second part of Coronation Street (a popular British TV soap) that aired this evening (8:30pm), we can clearly see a Nokia Lumia 800 being held by the actor with a beautiful camera shot to show off calendar functionality. At about 21:20 in, we see the product placement. You can check out the episode on ITV Player (link below), but be aware that ITV loves advertisements.

MTV Video features Windows Phone

Yet another cameo by a Windows Phone has surfaced. This time in a MTV Video Premiere from the music video "We Are Young" by the group fun.

Around the 0:29 mark you'll see a bar patron texting on her Windows Phone (an HTC Titan I believe). Then in a fit of rage she hurls the phone into the air and a slow motion bar fight/food fight ensues.  We're not sure if a stunt double was used in shooting this video.

If I'm not mistaken, there's also a Fruit Ninja reference around the 1:50 mark.

Thanks, Will, for the tip!

Well, we asked and you answered. After documenting the HTC HD7S on NCIS: LA, you folks let us know in droves that last night on Psych, the Samsung Focus made an appearance.

Sure enough, we got the clip for you and it's actually pretty hilarious. It's still not as cool as the Hawaii FIVE-0 spot, but good to see the ol' Focus getting some screen time. Check out our collection of TV product placements here.

Thanks everyone who tipped us! Keep 'em coming...

It's no secret that Windows Phone devices like to make cameos on popular TV shows lately. We saw it used on Hawaii FIVE-0 the other day, when we compiled a few examples of SkyDrive and Windows Phone in action.

Now we got word from you folks that NCIS: LA has been making judicious use of our favorite OS. Indeed, the HD7S showed up no less than three times on three different episodes this season. Heck, there's probably more but we only have so much time.

And because we're swell people, we did all the work and compiled those three cameos into a short lil' vid for your viewing pleasure.

Make sure to take a look at our growing collection of Windows Phone product placements and like they say here in New York City, if you see somehting, say something.

We received numerous tips that Windows Phone and SkyDrive were shown off, prominently, on Hawaii Five-0 recently. So we went ahead and found those clips for your viewing pleasure. Turns out they used it twice, with what looks to be the HTC HD7 and while the exact usage of Windows Phone is suspect, we suppose it can't hurt to show off some of those features, eh?

This is the third time, at least, that Windows Phone has appeared on Hawaii Five-0. See earlier last November here and here.

We've had Windows Phone cameo appearances in episodes of Hawaii Five-O, Castle, Human Target and several other television series. Now it appears the Windows Phone product placement may be reaching to video games.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1, if you keep Sonic idle for a for a minute he appears to pull out a Windows Phone and begin to listen to the Music Hub.

We've got a full review in the works for Sonic 4 and you can download the game here (opens Zune) at the Marketplace to judge for yourself if that's truly a Windows Phone he's using.  But in the meantime, make the jump after the break to view a video clip of this mysterious phone and let us know what you think? Is Sonic a Windows Phone user?

Confession: We have no idea who Havana Brown is, mostly because we're old and listen to punk. Still, that doesn't mean we can't be a little excited to see some obvious but schweet product placement, namely our prized Windows Phone, in a video by Ms. Brown who we're told is an "Australian DJ".

Her new video, 'We Run the Night' features a unidentified Windows Phone at the beginning for some serious screen time and a focus on Xbox LIVE, some texting and Facebook action. Skip to 0:13 and go up through 0:32 for the main scene. Stay for the dance song, if that's your thing (2nd confession: we love cheesy dance music). Anyways, this kind of exposure is always good to see.

Thanks, Danny A., for the heads up!

Looks like our favorite mobile OS has, once again, made a quite conspicuous appearance on that hit show 'Castle'. Flashing back, it was only like 2 weeks ago since the last sighting (and then way back in November). On the episode airing May 16th, Castle decides to use his Samsung Focus (though carrier and name are blocked) to snap a photo of some evidence for safe keeping. He then quickly creates an email and promptly sends it to his partners (nice use of Outlook there too).

Overall, we dig these little placements as hopefully it'll sink in eventually with the greater viewing public. Plus, Nathan Fillion rocks. Thanks, @benalewis, for the heads up!

Windows Phone first made an appearance on the hit TV show 'Castle' way back in mid November (see here, including video). Since then, we guess he forgot he had it since we didn't see it much...until last night.

Not only was the Samsung Focus (with 'Samsung' blacked out) featured by the main start Nathan Fillion, but also his lovely side-kick Stana Katic (who plays Kate Beckett). In fact, we saw the phone either featured or in the background being used (including once as a speakerphone) no less than four times--and that was us just skimming the show.

Some are calling the "Netflix moment" a little gratuitous and yes, perhaps it is but on the other hand, haters gonna hate, amirite?

Although there are official product placements on TV, there are sometimes non-official ones. The former are clear mini-commercials where the latter are just things we notice but you can't tell what it is.

Unless you're an eagle-eyed Windows Phone owner like @Hendo427, who let us know he spotted the Focus the other night on Grey's Anatomy (S07E13).

We went to tape and grabbed some more screenies and it sure looks like a Focus...whose had it's carrier label taped over. No features of the OS were shown either, meaning this wasn't MS sanctioned. So this is just for you insiders out there ;-)

In what is becoming a regular occurrence these days, Windows Phone 7 got some major screen time on tonight's Hawaii Five-O (CBS).

Dano basically sneaks into the "bad guy's" house and breaks out his LG Optimus 7 to snap some photos as evidence. He then "shares" them with his partner (who looks to be using an iPhone; cat fight anyone?). Overall, a nice demonstration of the WP7 camera system, even if it annoyingly resets your settings after each launch.

Bonus/Hey that's no coincidence: Microsoft and AT&T premiered their new commercial tonight which also features the camera function of WP7. How odd! (New commercial after the break).

Previous coverage of WP7 on TV: 'Castle', 'Bones', 'Hawaii Five-0' & 'The Vampire Diaries'; Thanks, Joe T., for the tip!

Yup, another week another product placement for Windows Phone 7. It's almost getting ridiculous at this point probably since we're documenting every instance. But we imagine for public perception, this will go a long way...

Last night on the show 'Castle', Richard Castle (the super awesome Nathan Fillion) pulls out his LG device in what has to be one of the more obvious product demos on TV. Ever. But still, it was a cool demo of Bing voice search, something we haven't seen yet on these ubiquitous TV spots. We also went the extra mile this time, getting the video clip you see above (you're welcome!).

Okay, not really. But WP7 did get another product placement last night when Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan received an important text message during an interrogation.

Once again, it was LG that received the honor of placement, much like last week on The Vampire Diaries and earlier this week on Hawaii Five-0. We're not sure how they get all the promo spots, but hey, seems to work.

What show will our trusty new OS appear on next? Stay tuned!

Thanks, Jamie P, for the tip

So last night on CBS, the new series (of an old series) Hawaii Five-O had a snazzy Windows Phone 7 placement. At about 18 minutes in to the show, two of the characters are in a museum. The male character suggests that the art piece was an original Clifton Bowles, the female doesn't believe him (they never do, amirite?), so he tells her to "Bing it!".

The female lead then pulls out an LG Optimus 7 and proceeds to Bing the gentleman's name. After this the show evidently went to commercial, where not one but reportedly two ads appeared. Not bad Microsoft, not bad.

Things I learned: Hawaii Five-O has a lot of pretty girls in it and I'm glad I'm vegetarian.

Thanks, Joe C & Tim O., for the tip!

Evidently, the other night on 'The Vampire Diaries' showing on the CW network, the LG Quantum with full Bing glory made a cameo appearance when Jeremy was looking for some bad guys. While it is not uncommon to see product placement in shows these days, we're pretty sure this is the first for Windows Phone 7.

Not a bad nod to the great functionality of Windows Phone 7 and Bing either, as it targets the young adult...vampire...market. Or something.

Thanks, Ben Luke, for the tip!

And thank me for the screen caps as I had to sit through that show to get 'em. The things I do for you folks...yeesh.
