What started as a trickle has turned into a flood as more and more evidence is confirming a Friday, August 16th release for the much anticipated Sprint Samsung ATIV S Neo with Windows Phone 8. Earlier we had accessories begin to arrive in stores and then Samsung listed the device with full specs on their website. Now, Sprint store and Samsung reps are starting to talk about the flagship Sprint Windows Phone.

Reader of the site Michael V. went to his local Sprint store this evening and while the store employee did not know the release date, she did have an information packet on the device, as seen below. However, what is more revealing was that a Samsung representative was there (they often stop by for training and device support, like Nokia) and he was able to look up the date and confirm a Friday launch.

We began to get rather hopeful with news of an imminent release for the Windows Phone 7.8 update, thanks to a tweet published by UK mobile operator O2. The company has quickly become the premier Windows Phone carrier in the UK, supporting the platform with stock of not only Lumia handsets, but Samsung and HTC as well.

Now Telstra has provided some hints that consumers with Windows Phone 7 hardware won't have to wait too long for the much anticipated update.

Metrotube was recently pulled due to YouTube alterations that broke playback. The developer has got in touch with us to reveal that an update containing a fix has been submitted and should be live in the Store within the next 24 hours (it is currently live for those in the US). The app update has passed certification, meaning consumers will be seeing the release shortly.

Nokia's plan to tackle the Chinese market by launching the Lumia 920T on China Mobile and tap into its 700 million customers was just the first step it seems, according to reports that both companies plan to offer the Windows Phone for just 1 Yuan. The fantastic deal for those who are looking to pick up the flagship smartphone on a 2-year contract will surely attract bargain hunters. Nokia surely plans to push hard.

Vodafone UK has published a new entry on its blog detailing plans for Windows Phone 8. The carrier previously unveiled that it would be stocking a selection of Windows Phone 8 hardware in early 2013. More details have been revealed as the company has now confirmed that a new Windows Phone will be joining the Lumia 820, HTC 8X and HTC 8S. It would appear as though the Lumia 920 exclusivity deal with EE is drawing to an end.

It surely has been a while, WordPress. We last covered the blogging app for Windows Phone back in October last year when the official offering hit version 1.4. The WordPress team has since released a number of updates, and as of yesterday we're now at 1.7.

Enabling bloggers who own Windows Phones to connect, manage and create articles on WordPress installations, the app is a must-have for those who require convenient access to their websites. So what's new?

Canadian network Rogers is to stock the Samsung ATIV S, according to an unconfirmed source who tipped MobileSyrup. Microsoft is expected to unveil its Surface range of Windows 8 tablets, both an RT (ARM) and a Pro (Intel / AMD x86) version to cater for most mobile PC needs. With the plan to set a high standard for OEM partners to follow, Microsoft has taken a bold move to start offering its own hardware to marry released software.

WPDownUnder has been able to uncover details surrounding availability for Australian consumers. According to a trusted source, Microsoft has been in talks with major retailers to launch the Surface instead of erecting Microsoft Stores. On top of this the source reveals this deal will be exclusive for initial availability.

We first looked at live music service Pepper earlier this year at a previous WPUG event. The app and backend service impressed us with the variety of features available, as well as how unique the functionality is in a package we've yet to see elsewhere. Exclusively available for Windows Phone, we enjoyed having the Pepper team on-board pushing the platform further with continued support. We've now got word that an imminent update is on its way, as well as apps for both Windows 8 and the iPhone.

Ballmer takes the stage at New York

While a handful of Windows Phone 8 ("Apollo") features were demoed by Joe Belfiore on-stage today, there was little revealed in terms of when we can look to see the next major release of Windows Phone be made available. Could Build 2012 be were Window Phone 8 is shown off completely with dates announced? It's a strong possibility.
