Earlier this week we reviewed the white Xbox One Sunset Overdrive Special Edition bundle, which launched first in North America followed by the UK a few days later. I found the bundle to be a very good value at $400, as it comes with a fresh and exclusive game and a unique looking console and controller. At $350 (the price starting Novermber 2nd), the Sunset OverDrive console will be a steal.

It turns out the white console has even more value than anyone knew. On Halloween, people who purchased the console and went online started receiving a surprise message from Microsoft with a free code for Ryse: Son of Rome! We can't say whether Microsoft will keep sending them to people who buy the Sunset Overdrive console later on. Still, it's a very classy move and a terrific way to welcome new players into the Xbox One fold.

The Xbox One launched with three exclusive retail titles last year: Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, and Ryse: Son of Rome. Did you buy the system at launch or shortly thereafter, but miss out on some of those games? Or maybe you're planning to jump in with one of this fall's bundles, such as the Madden, Sunset Overdrive, and Call of Duty bundles.

If you still want any of the big launch games, you're in luck. GameStop has outed the October release of "Game of the Year" Editions (GOTY) for all three launch exclusives. These new editions will bundle the main games with some or all of their downloadable content (DLC), making them quite a bargain if you haven't got those games already. Even luckier for our awesome readers, we're here to share impressions of each game and what their new editions will offer.

There are a few challenges for those wanting to make the transition to an all-digital game library with the Xbox One. A complaint echoed by many is that the games still cost too much, especially when compared to their physical disc-based equivalents. Often times retailers like Amazon or Target will offer big discounts on physical Xbox One games, while the digital version in the Xbox One game library remains at full price. Of course the Xbox One is only a few months old, so it was only a matter of time before digital games went on sale. Ryse: Son of Rome will be that first game.

Most gamers who purchased their Xbox One on Day One where privy to special content included with the Day one edition of their games. If you were one of the many users (including myself) who chose to download your games digitally though, you were left out. Now Xbox users have begun to receive download codes to digitally obtain the Day One content that was left out from games such as Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, and Forza Motorsport 5.

Xbox One France has posted some amazing shots on their Twitter page of what they are calling the “Xbox One Hotel”. As you might guess, the building and its interior follows Xbox inspired décor. The trendy spot will remain open until the end of November. Until then, visitors can enjoy playing Xbox One consoles and kicking back in the “Xbox One-themed restaurant”.

The lineup of Xbox One launch game announcements began with a trickle during the May reveal event and didn’t start to really flow until Microsoft’s E3 press conference. Electronic Arts and other publishers chimed in, and soon gamers began to have a decent idea of what software to expect when Microsoft’s new console rolls around.

Still, for all those title announcements, you never really know exactly what games will launch alongside the system until the console’s release date draws near. The Xbox One’s nebulous November release date (Microsoft still hasn’t named the date yet) is still a few months away, but Microsoft has just revealed the lineup of games that will be available at retail and via download on launch day. With 23 titles to choose from, early adopters are in for a treat this holiday season.

Okay - the Xbox One isn’t actually watching us shower, but Microsoft doesn’t want us to go even a few minutes without seeing an ad for their latest console. Our Editor-At-Large, Simon Sage, tweeted this picture after getting back to his Los Angles hotel room.

The advertisement states: “Drive fast. Defend Rome. Skype on your TV. All in one. – Xbox One” The first two statements are references to Xbox One exclusive games including Forza Motorsport 5 and Crytek’s RYSE. The third statement is reference to the console’s new ability to make Skype calls via Kinect in full screen or snap mode, while playing a game.
