If there is one controversial area in regards to the stellar Nokia Lumia 1020, it would be its price. In the face of deals elsewhere like on Amazon.com, the $299 contract price is traditionally higher than most flagship devices in 2013. At least that’s the perception, even if erroneous. It’s a bit dishonest when tech sites focus on that subject since the AT&T 32GB iPhone 5 sells for the same $299 (and the 32GB Galaxy S4 runs for $249).

Last we checked, neither come with a groundbreaking 41MP camera.

Some could argue that the Lumia 1020 has no right to command the same price as the iPhone 5, but that seems a little pretentious for our tastes. Still, there’s a feeling in the air that the Lumia 1020 is not selling well or making much of an impact.

Gameloft’s UNO & Friends launched earlier this month. Since then, two weeks have gone by with no new Xbox Windows Phone release (unless we count Chaos Rings, which we’ll get to in another article). Once again, the Xbox Red Stripe Deal is left to pick up the slack.

This week’s sale game can’t even begin to match the quality of last week’s Rayman Jungle Run sale, but it should still please Achievement hungry bargain shoppers. Collapse! from Game House is on sale for 99 cents. It went on sale back in February 2012, but at the higher $1.99 price point.

Microsoft has launched a brand new website to show off some figures about the company. If you've ever felt like knowing exactly how many minutes are accumulated through Skype calls (hint: 2 billion), this new resource is the perfect way of finding out, as well as figures and details for other Microsoft products and services. It's essentially a portfolio highlighting the company's success, but what about the losses and products that haven't taken off?

Since we had no new Xbox Windows Phone release this week, the Xbox Red Stripe Deal is left to pick up the slack. And for once, it doesn’t disappoint! Yes, this week a game that HAS NEVER BEEN ON SALE BEFORE goes on sale. That doesn’t happen too often. What’s more, it’s one of the best games available!

Yes, Rayman Jungle Run from Ubisoft is the Xbox game on sale this week. What Windows Phone 8 gamer could resist it for only 99 cents? Rounding out the Red Stripe Deals are an indie game called 2150 A.D. from Lumosoft for 99 cents and the Twitter app Rowi from Hidden Pineapple for $1.49. Descriptions and Store links after the break.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has always been an incredibly impressive console in terms of sales and the company’s recent announcement of its successor, the Xbox One, has not slowed it down one bit. The Xbox 360 remains the top sold console and has hit thirty consecutive months.

According to Microsoft, the Xbox 360 has maintained its position as the top US console last month selling over 140,000 units. The company states that the Xbox 360 platform (hardware, software, and accessories) brought in over $197 million dollars in June.

Windows Phone 8 users received an awesome new Xbox release this week: Order & Chaos Online, officially ending the recent release drought. But Windows Phone 7 gamers still need stuff to play, and some people just want games on the cheap. Namco Bandai and Firemint’s Flight Control will have to do, as it makes its second appearance as the Xbox Red Stripe Deal this week. Not the most exciting game, but the sale price of a dollar is fair!

In non-Xbox Red Stripe Deal territory, Sketch Taxi is a fun old school game on sale for a dollar as well. The GPS Voice Navigation app rings up at $3.49. Details and store links after the break.

It’s a decent week for Xbox gaming deals, with the EA July Special marking six Windows Phone games down and the Xbox 360 Ultimate Game Sale slashing prices like crazy. But we could still use an Xbox Windows Phone Red Stripe Deal, and that’s just what we get. Doodle God from JoyBits is the latest Xbox title to go on sale. Not the most exciting game, but you can get it for 99 cents and knock its Achievements out in no time.

As for the non-Xbox Red Stripe Deals, Rubicon’s excellent indie strategy title Great Big War Game rings up for 99 cents this week as well. Fabulously wealthy Windows Phone users will enjoy the Mobitee GPS Golf app, on sale for the humble price of $10.99. Descriptions and store links after the break!

We didn’t get a new Xbox Windows Phone game today, a fact that doesn’t hurt if you think about fluffy bunnies hard enough. Still, one thing that eases the pain of a release drought like this is a nice sale. At least, Microsoft and Electronic Arts sure think so. Six games from EA and its subsidiaries Chillingo and PopCap are on sale from now until Tuesday, July 9th – that’s the good news.

The less good news, some might say, is that every single one of these games was just discounted back during the EA publisher sale in March. In fact, that sale consisted of nine games and this one only boasts six. No discounted Mirror’s Edge, Monopoly, or Plants vs. Zombies discounts this time! Many consider Electronic Art’s early Windows Phone games to be boldly overpriced as well. These sale prices are essentially what the aging games should cost anyway.

Read on for the full sale list and descriptions!

Remember the Xbox 360 Ultimate Game Sale from back in February? Microsoft slashed the prices on more than 20 Games on Demand (downloadable versions of full retail titles) throughout the week, with a different selection of games on sale every day. And now that sale is back again just 4-5 months later. Could it have something to do with Microsoft wanting to sell as many Xbox 360 games as possible before the Xbox One shows up later this year? Does a frog bump its butt when it hops?

On top of that, today happens to be the first day of the month. And that means Xbox Live Gold members get a new free game! Last month it was Fable III, and this month everyone expected Assassin’s Creed II or Halo 3 (both Games on Demand titles) to go free. But life would be boring if everything went to plan, and so Microsoft has made an XBLA game called Defense Grid: The Awakening from Hidden Path Entertainment free instead.

Quick impressions and a full list of sale games after the break!

With no new Xbox game release yesterday, it’s up to the Xbox Red Stripe Deal of the Week to keep players busy. Luckily it’s a good one, though it did go on sale for the same price back in April. I speak of Gerbil Physics, the cutest physics game in creation, from indie developer Pencel Games. Gamers who missed it the first time around have another chance to blow up gerbils on the cheap, which I believe is something we can all get behind.

Following on Gerbil Physics’ heels are the regular Red Stripe Deals. LunarX from InProcessout is a unique indie sci-fi game on sale for $1.49. For the same price, HD Scanner from Code Nomads lets you make high resolution document scans with your phone’s camera.

The Xbox Red Stripe Deal of the Week doesn’t update until Thursday, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find a new Xbox Windows Phone deal today. The good folks at Gameloft are running a little sale of their own, with almost every single one of their titles marked down in price. The best deals of the bunch have to be The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises for three bucks apiece - those games only came out in March!

Full list with descriptions and store links after the break.

Windows Phone 8 gamers are currently enjoying this week’s new Xbox title, the delightfully free and also just plain delightful Jetpack Joyride. But you can never have too many games, especially when you’re addicted to Xbox Achievements. Your mouth gets dry, the shakes start to set in, and only a new game will keep you from eating a family sized bag of Whoppers (wrapper and all) in your delirium.

Enter the Xbox Red Stripe Deal of the Week, only too eager to ease the pain! The latest weekly sale title is BulletAsylum from UberGeekGames. Normally priced at $2.99, it’s now discounted to 99 cents. BulletAsylum previously went on sale for $1.99 once in May 2012, so this is a better deal… Probably what the game should always have cost, in fact.

The new non-Xbox Red Stripe Deals are indie game Chicken Invaders 3 from Betacom and popular instant messaging app IM+ Pro. Both cost only a dollar this week, which is an especially good deal for the normally $5 IM+ Pro. Read on for more details, screenshots, and download links!

Now that EA Sports has released Tiger Woods 12 for Nokia phones, golf fans have two Xbox golf titles to choose from. Tiger Woods’ predecessor, Let’s Golf 2 is by comparison a much more cartoony title. But realism isn’t always that important in sports games – just see our NBA Jam review. Besides, it’s not like HTC and Samsung owners can get Tiger Woods anyway. Oh, and Let’s Golf 2 is on sale for a lower price right now.

That’s right, Gameloft’s Let’s Golf 2 for Windows Phone 7 and 8 is the Xbox Windows Phone Red Stripe Deal of the Week. You can get it for $1.99, down from the too-high price of $4.99. This marks the game’s second outing as Deal of the Week – it last went on sale in September 2012 for the same price.

Rounding out the Red Stripe deals this week are Cradle to the Grave Premium from indie developer Coltran Studios and an air traffic utility app called Flightradar24, both on sale for 99 cents. Read on for descriptions, pictures, and store links!

For Xbox fans, the best part of the weekly Red Stripe Deals promotion is undoubtedly the Xbox Red Stripe Deal. Each week, one game with juicy Achievements drops its price - often as low as 99 cents. The sale price depends on the starting price though.

Case in point: Puzzle Quest 2 from Namco Bandai usually sells for a crazy $6.99, but this week it costs only $2.99. The puzzle RPG previously went on sale for five bucks way back in March 2012. Three dollars might not be as sweet as 99 cents, but it’s certainly an improvement.

Also on sale this week are Drift Mania Championship 2 (only for Windows Phone 8), the indie racing game and a musical app called Synthpling. We’ve got descriptions, screenshots and Store links after the break.

Last week’s Red Stripe Xbox Deal gave us a fine sale on Sonic CD, a game that had never been discounted before. This week’s game has never been a Deal of the Week before, but many of us picked it up during the Black Friday sale last year. That’s right, Mush from Angry Mango will be the new Red Stripe Xbox game starting on Thursday. It’s going on sale for 99 cents, down from $2.99.

Does anybody remember the Xbox Deal of the Week for Windows Phone? It started quite humbly back in March 2nd, 2011 with a sale on Konami’s so-so port of Frogger. The sales rolled on in the weeks to come, typically discounting $5 games down to $3 and $3 games down to $2. Only holiday event sales would grant larger discounts, until the fateful day when Gameloft’s UNO HD became the first 99 cent Deal of the Week on November 14, 2012.

Update: As part of the Microsoft Publisher sale, a total of six games are on sale this week! Full list after the break.

On Xbox 360, the Xbox Live Spring Sale has just concluded. Starting later today, a selection of Microsoft Studios XBLA sales will go on sale. On the Windows Phone front, the big EA games sale took place during the same time as the 360’s Spring Sale. You’ll remember the EA sale as the one that took a bunch of crazily overpriced games like The Sims 3 and marked them down to just angrily overpriced. It’s good to own a Nokia phone, where the EA exclusives sell for much more reasonable prices.

Coinciding with the XBLA Microsoft Studios sale, it looks like we’re getting another Xbox game sale on Windows Phone! The sale titles include Gerbil Physics, ilomilo, and Zombies on the Phone, and three more games. Plus Gameloft’s Earthworm Jim just got a permanent price drop. More details after the break!
