While users on Windows Phone have been enjoying the ability to post to Instagram both unofficially (Instagraph, Instance, etc.) and officially (Hipstamatic Oggl), there has been one complicated and vexing issue haunting people: tags.

The concern can be best explained as thus: when users post using third party apps from Windows Phone, those images are not searchable if they use a hashtag. For example, if you publish using Instance with the hashtag “#wp8” in theory when you use the search key to find other photos with “#wp8”, you should see your latest post indexed. However, this is not the case as your image will be hidden.

Rudy Huyn, the developer working on the forthcoming 6tagram app has posted an article via his blog explaining the situation. The news is not very good and highlights the continued cat and mouse game between Windows Phone developers and the services they are trying to make apps for.

Nokia is looking to launch a proximity sensor accessory for Lumia Windows Phones, according to sources familiar with company plans. The Verge reports that Nokia will release a "Treasure Tag" that will combine Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC to track items of possession from a Windows Phone. The tag will pair with a smartphone through NFC and can then be attached to keys, etc. with a supplied loop strap.

PlaceCam is a photo editing app for your Windows Phone that lets you add a location and hashtag to your images. You have four templates to choose from to overlay your location and hashtag and a handful of font color and font options to help customize your tags.

While PlaceCam lacks any traditional editing tools (brightness, contrast, effects filters, etc.) it is a "no sweat" way to label and tag your images.  I can see it being a handy photography app to have on your Windows Phone.

Near Field Communications or NFC is relatively new to our Windows Phones with the technology having enormous potential. With NFC Launchit, you can program NFC tags with a variety of actions to make life a little easier. All from your Windows Phone.

You'll need a supply of unprogrammed NFC tags and with NFC Launchit you can program two types of actions based on System Apps and Popular Apps. If you only use your Bluetooth when in your car, program a NFC Tag to launch your Bluetooth and stick it to your car visor.

Microsoft Tags Porsche

Porsche has begun tagging their automobiles. Tagging them with Microsoft Tags that is. You know, the multi-colored, triangular Microsoft Tags that can be scanned to pull up all sorts of information from your Windows Phone.

Porsche has begun adding the Tags on cars at dealerships in five States to test the waters. Porsche's hopes is to make their products and dealerships more accessible. When scanned (with your Windows Phone or other Microsoft Tag capable smartphone) the Tag will send you to mobile sites with more information about the particular model along with videos, photos and sales contact info.

In addition to tagging their cars, Porsche is including Microsoft Tags in the print ads. Initial reactions, according to Porsche, are good with customers liking the "cool" factor the Tags bring to the table. Now if they can just do something about the price tag on Porsche.

If you haven't already installed the Microsoft Tag Reader to your Windows Phone, you can find your free copy here (opens Zune) at the Marketplace.
