torture test

The other day we saw part one of a Nokia Lumia 920 stress test where the phone was dropped numerous times onto concrete and survived with only some minor cosmetic damage. The same site is back with even more 920 tortures: keys, a knife and a mallet.

The video shows the gent trying to scratch the 920’s display and body with the keys, both lightly (as if in your pocket) and then deliberately. Both times the Nokia survived with out any damage.

We've seen the Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone drive nails but how tough is this Windows Phone? Sure it has Gorilla Glass and a solid, polycarbonate unibody but can it stand up to freezing temps? Temperatures hot enough to bake cookies? How about falls from a moving car?  How about instead of driving nails Lumia 900, you tried to drive a nail into the Lumia?

CNET TV's Jeff Cannata took the Lumia 900 out on a torture test to see if anything could beat it. While it survived the falls, freezing temps and oven temps there was one test that did the Lumia 900 in. Even though the video ends in tragedy, it's nice to see how tough the Lumia 900 is.

If there was any doubt how well built the Nokia Lumia 900 is, the above video should ease anyone's concerns over build quality. The unibody design coupled with Corning's Gorilla Glass make the Lumia 900 a very solid Windows Phone. Solid enough to drive nails.

The engineers who tested the durability of the Lumia 900 did the same test on the Lumia 710. The 710 held up just as nicely as the 900.

Now for the obligatory disclaimer. While the Lumia 900 clearly survives the torture test in the video, we don't recommend you using your Lumia 900 to build a deck, repair the back steps or deliberately abuse your Windows Phones.  Such activity would likely void your warranty.

Chime in below in the comments if you're Nokia Lumia 900 has survived near death experiences.
