Unity Engine

Unity 3D is one of the most powerful cross-platform games development engines available today, powering dozens of experiences from Xbox One to Windows Phone.

During the Build 2015 keynote, it was revealed that Unity 3D is partnering with Microsoft on HoloLens development, and the development team have recently confirmed on their blog that HoloLens will enjoy full support from the Unity engine.

Let’s get this out of the way: endless runners are the new weather apps, the new puzzler fad in mobile gaming. They’re free, have great 3D graphics and more importantly, you can play them in under a few minutes. That’s why they’re popular and that’s why we love ‘em. It’s futile to resist (and fruitless to complain).

Unity, developers of the wildly popular gaming engine of the same name, announced yesterday at Build 2013 that they have struck up a "strategic partnership" with Microsoft to develop for Xbox One and Windows Phone 8. This collaboration with Microsoft means the development of new development tools geared specifically for both platforms, "including support for many next-generation features like enhanced Kinect gestures and recognition, multiplayer matchmaking, SmartGlass and cloud stuff."

In addition to opening up the development floodgates to both platforms, the new partnership will also benefit those who choose to develop games using the Unity engine.
