Earlier this week, three Xbox Windows Phone 7 titles from Gameloft suddenly got delisted from the Store. It’s not totally unusual for games to be delisted; at the end of September a record-setting 11 games received the same treatment. But most of those games handled In-App Purchases (IAPs) via now-defunct Microsoft Points. None of the newly pulled Gameloft games had IAPs.

The main thing these latest delisted games had in common (besides their publisher and being Windows Phone 7 launch titles) is that all three went on sale on September 26, the same week as the mass IAP delisting. Head past the break for details and our speculation as to what happened.

Having reviewed Gameloft’s Order & Chaos Online last week, today we look at the publisher’s latest release UNO & Friends for Windows Phone 8. That’s the title, not “UNOFriends” as it’s inexplicably listed in the Windows Phone Store. It’s free and runs on all Windows Phone 8 devices (even low end ones), so it’s definitely worth a look.

Looks like our Xbox LIVE gaming drought has come to an end as Microsoft and Gameloft have released UNO & Friends (listed as UNOFriends in the Store) for Windows Phone 8 today. The free online game allows you to challenge your friends and family to a competitive bout of UNO, all from the convenience of your phone.

These type of online multiplayer games have been yearned for by many Windows Phone users as we only have a handful of such titles, though that list is slowly growing in 2013. Combined with the free pricing point, it should ensure that there are plenty of users to challenge.

The Xbox Red Stripe Deal of the Week doesn’t update until Thursday, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find a new Xbox Windows Phone deal today. The good folks at Gameloft are running a little sale of their own, with almost every single one of their titles marked down in price. The best deals of the bunch have to be The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises for three bucks apiece - those games only came out in March!

Full list with descriptions and store links after the break.

Last week’s Xbox Deal of the Week was a repeat sale on the less-than-impressive Windows Phone port of Earthworm Jim from Gameloft. This week, I’ve got both some Aladeen news and some Aladeen news to share with you. First, the Aladeen news: we’re getting another repeat deal on another so-so Gameloft game – UNO HD. Now the Aladeen news: it’s going on sale for just 99 cents, down from $4.99, making this a much better deal than last time.

The Xbox Live Deal of the Week program has featured a few high-quality games so far – Rocket Riot and last week’s Carneyvale come to mind. They can’t all be winners though, as this week’s deal proves…

Uno HD is now on sale for $2.99, down from the regular, crazy price of $4.99.

Our Uno HD review praises the game’s interface, features, and gameplay experience. However it does criticize the game’s price, so $2.99 seems fairer. But I have to wonder, how many gamers are dying to play a single-player version of Uno for any price? Anyone???

Uno HD is on sale for $2.99 for one week only. There’s also a free trial, which you might want to try before buying… Grab it here (Zune link) on the Marketplace.

Uno HD – Review

Uno is one of those games whose rules are known nearly universally. Between the simplicity of learning the rules and strategy, and the flexibility of the game to handle small groups or large, Uno is one of the most popular games of all time. Card games translate extremely well to the small screen; the user interface is easy to replicate, and the graphics required for a game like Uno HD don’t even begin to tax the phone’s hardware.

To see how Uno HD stacks up against some of the other Xbox Live games in the Marketplace, see the full review after the break.

Pros:
Intuitive controls, customizable rules and game-play
Cons:
Some of the button-based controls can be hard to interact with.

The Windows Phone Marketplace is quickly approaching 1,000 apps which has a large contingency of gaming titles. Gameloft has posted a video over at their Youtube channel highlighting a few of their HD titles that will be available for the Windows Phone 7.

The teaser video highlights Earthworm Jim, UNO, Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles, Brain Challenge and The Oregon Trail. All look really good, especially Assassin's Creed.

November 8th can't get here quick enough.
