Microsoft is hinting strongly that HTC may finally be ready to launch a new Windows Phone product, after months of Internet rumors that such a device is in the works. Speaking to reporters after Microsoft's Computex 2014 keynote address earlier today, Nick Parker, the company's vice president of OEM partners, answered a question about manufactoring partners with this response:

"You're the best...around...Nothing's gonna ever keep you down"

When it comes to Windows 8, people fall into two camps: they love it or hate it. Personally, we love it and maybe we’ll share our thoughts more on it later as we’ve been running RTM for the last two weeks.  We’ll also say those who don’t like Windows 8 have been more vocal—they always are.

So it’s perhaps a good sign to see Windows 8 pre-orders on Amazon.com rocking the #1 spot. Sure, we can’t imagine the software section on Amazon is highly volatile as compared to other products likes games or even phones, but it’s a good sign that people are interested in the next generation OS from Redmond. Or to put it another way, we’d rather see Windows 8 sitting at #1 than not as some detractors could spin that towards the negative.

ThinkPad 2 for $799 w/keyboard?

Last night we popped by PepCom, a little tech event that happens every few months here in New York City. We were curious if Samsung would be there with their ATIV lineup (answer: no) and we were hoping to maybe spot some interesting tidbits for you folks. We're not too heavily focused on tablets here, but sometimes we find out things.

For instance, we managed to get our mitts on the upcoming Lenovo Thinkpad 2, sporting Windows 8 Pro and a 10.1” 1,366 x 768 IPS display. Impressions? It’s very nice and we’re kind of itching to get one, especially with its reported 10 hour battery life, 2MP/8MP camera, AT&T LTE, NFC, USB ports and even a stylus.

If you're a Windows Phone 7 developer, you would probably have heard us talk about this Kirkland, Wash. startup. To recap, it was founded by David McLauchlan (CEO), and Jeff MacDuff (CTO). Both are former Microsoft employees with Dave doing work on the Zune hardware business amongst others, and Jeff working on a range of products including that Windows Phone 7 you're clutching.

Although the platform has been out since last year, up until now it has been in beta. But today they have finally hit v1, along with a bunch of exciting announcements.

So what's new? Well, in addition to the info in the quote below, Buddy has now got support for the Aviary image filters - which has recently been included in Rowi. Along with that, there is now a native .NET SDK which makes it absolutely painless to use the platform in your own app, plus is the first SDK that supports Windows 8! I have personally used the SDK in a Windows 8 app, and it was simpler than the time I stole candy from a baby (I didn't really, promise). The SDK also successfully passes the Windows App Certification Kit (WACK), which is required to publish apps into the Store, and is failed by pretty much every other 3'rd party library due to broken dependencies.

We know what you're thinking though...what good is a press release without an infographic? So we have two, just for you (and the thousands of others like you)...
