Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Windows Phone Photography Apps

Seeing that May is National Photo Month here in the States, we decided to turn our sights on Windows Phone photography apps with this week's roundup.

The native Windows Phone camera app does a nice job of things, as does the Nokia Camera app for those sporting a Nokia Lumia Windows Phone. We will touch base on a few of the top rated photography apps that offer you an alternative to these two camera apps that will not only let you capture images but also edit them as well.

We've watched these four apps develop from their initial release to becoming rather capable Windows Phone photography apps. While our seasoned Windows Phone users may already be familiar with these titles, our newer users may not be and we'll dig a little deeper with this week's roundup to give those looking for a photo app option a better feel for things.

Two popular photography apps for your Windows Phone 8 devices has been updated. ProShot and Camera360 both have received updates that mainly address fixes and tweaks to their user interfaces.

ProShot jumps to version 2.8 and adds a new focus dial with fixes for the burst mode and UI tweaks. The focus dial sits to the side of the viewfinder and is a nice addition and should be more convenient for those who prefer to manually focus on things.

Bloatware just got a lot better on our Windows Phones or at least in China. Camera360 has announced a partnership with Nokia that will have the camera app pre-installed on the Nokia Lumia 925 sold in China.

Camera360 is a fantastic Windows Phone app that is part photo editor, photo organizer and camera app. There is no doubt that Camera360 will compliment the Lumia 925's camera very well.

Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Photography
Windows Phone Central App Roundup: More Photo Apps

With this week's Windows Phone Central app roundup we re-visit an old favorite, Windows Phone photography apps. The camera has quickly become an influential feature on our Windows Phone and having supportive apps is an equally important point of interest.

Luckily, the Windows Phone Store has an abundance of quality photo apps ranging from camera software alternatives to photo-editing to photo sharing apps. We've pooled together a handful of the standouts photography apps for this week's roundup and it was tough to narrow it down to just a few.

Camera360 is a Windows Phone 8 camera app that has a minimal approach to the viewfinder layout. Camera360 has a set of filters that can be easily applied to photos, that in turn can be shared via social networks.

The app was updated today to version 1.0 which adds a "touch shoot" feature, a few new photo editing options and a few performance optimizations.

Additionally, Camera360 has been ranked #2 by the Fortune Global Forum in the Best Startups category. The Fortune Global Forum is an invitation only type event, attended by the CEOs of the Fortune Global 500 companies. Receiving recognition from such an event is rather impressive.

Art in your hand with Camera360 for Windows Phone 8

Last week Camera360 hit the Windows Phone Store. It’s a very popular app on both iOS and Android (with an average rating of 4.5 on both platforms). So when we launched on Windows Phone we were very eager to play with it. This is another one of those apps that applies filters to your photos, but it does so in a brilliant and beautiful fashion. Let’s check it out.

Camera360 for Windows Phone 8 has landed in the Windows Phone Store. Camera360 is a popular photography app over on the Android and iOS platforms that presents a unique user interface that applies various filters and effects to your images.  The interface takes a little time to get used to but after a few minutes, it's rather nice.

Tapping into a "less is more" concept, Camera360 has a central dial, a creative compass, that lets you scan through the various shooting themes and then side swipe the screen to choose the effects for each theme. You also have several frames to choose from and a photo diary to review your photos by date taken.
