Eve Tech, the Finland-based company that in 2015 released an inexpensive but impressive Windows 8.1 tablet, the Eve T1, is now working on a Windows 10 2-in-1 device. In an unusual move, Eve Tech is "crowd-developing" the product with feedback from a community of Eve T1 fans.
The device is currently using the code name "Pryamid Flipper". Eve Tech says they have some set hardware goals for their Windows 10 2-in-1. They want it to be in the same device category as the Surface Pro 4 or the Dell XPS 13, with a long battery life combined with a good design, screen, and as light as possible while also having enough processing power to get jobs done.
People who join the official Eve Community will get a say in the design and hardware of Pyramid Flipper. For example, members might be asked if the device should have a built-in kickstand or a magatic hinge. They might also be asked to give their thouhts on which CPU should be used inside, or the amount of RAM and storage. Eve Tech says:
"Most of the electronics are designed by people who don't actually use them! If you ever wondered why tablets, smartphones and laptops are full of obvious flaws or why there are some useless features and bloatware, it is simply because huge brands behind your favorite electronics DON'T CARE! Eve community exists to change that! Everyone in our industry says that "End customers don't know what they want, so don't ask them". We, being tech enthusiasts ourselves, think differently!"
Do you believe "crowd-developing" a Windows 10 device will result in a better product? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
