Lenovo is now selling those super-light LaVie Z Windows 8.1 notebooks that we got some hands-on time with at CES 2015 in January. The company told us the LaVie Z models would go on sale in May, and right on cue, they are now available on Lenovo's online store.
There are two models available. The LaVie Z, which weighs just 1.87 pounds, has a regular 13.3-inch notebook display. The LaVie Z 360 has a hinge that allows its 13.3-inch screen to move 360 degrees so it can be used as a tablet. It weighs slightly more at 2.04 pounds, which is still extremely light for such a laptop.
Both versions have displays with a resolution of 2560x1440, but the LaVie Z has a QHD non-touchscreen display with anti-glare features while the LaVie Z 360 has an IPS touchscreen. Both models have an Intel Core i7-5500U processor with a clock speed of 2.40GHz, along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. Both versions also have battery life of up to nine hours for video playback.
The LaVie Z will set you back $1,499 while the LaVie Z 360 is priced at $1,699. Both models are currently on sale on the Lenovo site with an instant 12% discount.
