Official NBC 'Today' Windows Phone 8 app for those who prefer to sleep in, is now available

Today from NBC

NBC News Digital LLC, who previously released their NBC News and NBC Nightly News apps, has released the Today app that delivers all the goodness of the Today Show to your Windows Phone 8 device.  It gives you a way to catch all the news stories from the Today show just in case you miss something when the show airs on television in the early AM.

The Today app has pages for the top news stories of the day, stories categorized in sections and videos from the NBC morning show. News stories can be saved for later and has an audio playback option where you can have the news stories read to you.

Individual stories can be shared via email or SMS as well as posted on Facebook or Twitter. The Today app has Live Tile support that displays the top stories, push notifications for breaking news and lockscreen support to display the day's stories on your lockscreen.

Today

In just tinkering with the Today app, it comes across as a rather impressive Windows Phone 8 news app. I can see it coming in handy if you miss part of the show for work, school or if you just want to sleep. If you're a fan of the Today show, the Today app is a must have.

Quick footnote... we've heard rumblings that the Today app wasn't working properly on the HTC 8X with stories not pulling up. We tested it out on our 8X and did not experience any problems running the Today app. If your results differ, let us know in the comments.

The Today app is a free app for your Windows Phone 8 device that you can find here in the Windows Phone Store.

Thanks, Kevin, for the tip!

Shouldn't all news be in main app? I get it if you charge for your apps but this feels like a WPCentral app separately for each editor! Sam you would love that, won't ya? :P

I actually think I'll be able to use this. I watch the first hour of the show every morning, but would like to be able to watch clips of the second hour if they've teased me about what's coming up next.
