Viber is a messaging app that enables you to text, group message and make free HD calls. Available cross-platform, the app has been updated on competing platforms, but now it's Windows Phone's turn. The client has been bumped to version 3.1. The release itself is quite a large one, packing a completely redesigned UI and more. Head on past the break for the details.

The first thing you're notice when launching the new version of Viber is the new UI. It really is a breath of fresh air for the popular communication tool. The 3.1 update also includes notification improvements and support for Live Tiles. The company has released patches in the past to further bring its desktop and Windows Phone apps closer together and 3.1 adds yet more enhancements when switching between the two.

We're not quite up to the level of features and functionality available on iOS and Android, but it's a welcome update. We'd certainly like to see a more regular update cycle for Windows Phone. what do you make of version 3.1? Sound off in the comments. Be sure to let us know if you notice anything else that's new.

If you haven't already got the app installed, you can download Viber from the Windows Phone Store for free (requires Windows Phone 8 - also available for Windows). Thanks to everyone who tipped us!
