Virtual wallet service, Mobikwik updated to allow cash payment

MobiKwik is a fast growing mobile wallet service in India, and the app allows users the convenience to purchase goods and services on third party merchant websites, recharge prepaid and post-paid mobile, television/DTH, data cards and make bill payments for broadband/landline phones, electricity, gas, and insurance.

The app allows users to park money, up to ₹50,000 into the MobiKwik wallet, and make hassle-free payments for multiple transactions in only one click. The latest update of the Mobikwik – version 1.1.0.0 – now allows a Cash Pay feature apart from the existing payment options including credit cards, debit cards, and netbanking with leading banks. Apart from the new feature, there are also few UX improvements and bug fixes.

The problem is, that the app crashed each time I tried to use the feature. I tried on two different Nokia Lumia devices, one on 3G and the other on WiFi. While the app works fine for everything else, the Cash Pay functionality doesn’t go through.

With the Cash Pay feature, you can add money to your MobiKwik wallet by paying cash at your doorstep. Once you specify your desired amount and your address, cash will be collected within 24 hours from the specified address, and your wallet balance will be updated within 2-3 hours of cash collection. The Cash Pay facility has an extra charge of ₹39 over the recharge amount.

The app is available for free from the Windows Phone Store for Windows Phone 7.x and Windows Phone 8. Update the app, and try using the Cash Pay feature, and let us know if it works for you.
