Windows 10 Accessory Review: Mpow Antelope Bluetooth Sports Headphones

The Mpow Antelope Bluetooth Sports Headphones offer you a comfortable fit with CVC 6.0 noise reduction technology. They offer an attractive wireless solution for the gym or everyday use.

Mpow is quickly becoming a leader in accessories for your Windows 10 PC and Mobile devices. From emergency batteries to Bluetooth Speakers to Bluetooth headphones, Mpow has built up an impressive accessory lineup. We took the Antelope headphones out for a test drive and found them to be not only a quality set of headphones but also budget friendly.

Mpow Antelope Headphones

The design of the Mpow Antelope headphones has two large earpieces connected with a flexible rubber coated wire. The right earpiece has three buttons that run along the bottom edge and the left earpiece holds your USB charging port. The button controls on the right earpiece control a variety of functions and breakdown as follows.

  • The '+' Button increases your volume and advances playback
  • The '-' Button decreases your volume and jumps back
  • The '⭘' Button is a multi-function button that controls your power, play/pause, and answer/end calls functions

There is a small LED light on the right earpiece to confirm actions or alert you to incoming calls or low battery. The Mpow Antelope Bluetooth Sports Headphones are packaged with a micro-USB cable, three sizes of rubber earbuds and the owner's manual.

Under the hood of the Antelope headphones, you will find Bluetooth 4.1, CVC 6.0 Noise Cancellation and a battery with up to 8 hours playback/talk time and 240 hours of standby time.

Fit, Feel and Performance

The Mpow Antelope headphones are a little on the bulky side but extremely light. The lighter weight balances the largeness of the earpieces nicely and I found the Antelope headphones rather comfortable to wear. The headphones fit was secure whether running on the treadmill or walking down the street.

Powering the headphone up calls for you to press/hold the multi-function button for four seconds and to enter pairing mode, simply hold the power down for an extra three seconds or until you see the LED light flash white.

Audio quality for calls and music/video playback was solid with just the right amount of bass and treble. Compared to the competition, I would place the Antelope's sound quality about two steps above what you would find in other similarly-priced and specced headphones.

The microphone is positioned on the backside of the right earpiece. The microphone does a nice job picking up your voice and filtering out background noises. Callers were able to hear me clearly using a normal tone of voice.

It did take me a little time to get used to the orientation of the control buttons. While it was easy to remember that the center button was the multi-function button, the + and - button orientation took a little time to remember. Also, remember that tapping the buttons control the volume and a long press controls music playback. I found myself tapping when I should have been pressing to get to the next song.

The Mpow Antelope headphones can connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time and the call features include you basic answer/end calls, rejecting calls, last number redial and voice dial features. Pairing and the initial connection went smoothly from both a Lumia 950 and a Lumia 635. I was able to access Cortana through the voice dial features (tapping the multi-function and + button at the same time) using either Windows Phone.

All in all, the Mpow Antelope Bluetooth Sports Headphones are a nice option to consider if you are in the market for a wireless audio solution. The headphones are available from Amazon.com (in the neighborhood of $35) or directly from Mpow's website.
