Windows 10 launched on July 29, and now a new, but unconfirmed report, claims that the operating system could currently be installed on as many as 27 million PCs worldwide.
Neowin, citing unnamed sources, claims that they have heard that Windows 10 installs have now "surpassed 25 million and may be as high as 27 million." Microsoft previously announced that Windows 10 was installed on over 14 million PCs worldwide 24 hours after it officially launched. Later that week, our own sources claimed that number shot up to as many as 67 million, but we have since learned that information was incorrect.
Microsoft is still rolling out Windows 10 to older Windows 7 and 8.1 PCs that are eligible to receive the free upgrade, and of course, many PC makers are currently selling desktops, notebooks and tablets with Windows 10 pre-installed, including Microsoft's Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3. Hopefully, Microsoft will release updated and official Windows 10 install numbers in the near future.
